On a polar opposite, this guy only eat McDonald and after a month (I think), his liver was so deteriorated that it was at the same level of severity as a hard core alcoholic. You know what, I'd rather die of being an alcoholic.

It's best to use common sense and listen to your own body. It's hard to believe eating beef is better than salmon as a few posts ago suggested.

Eat as little red meat as possible or as your body can take. Try to eat fish instead of meat. Eat beans and tofu as meat substitutes. And of course eat as much green vegetables as reasonable.

And once in awhile, go a big MAC for a quick fix.

That it is. I have bulked and cut a ton of different ways in my life. I can achieve the results I want via many different pathways. I have been doing this stuff for so long, and while I'm not a competitive athlete....I have proof in the "Gym thread" and "Body-fat thread" that I'm not just talking out my ass for what I try to achieve with my goals.

I have tried so many different ways of eating over the years, and I have labs to back it up. But a lot comes down to genetics, and learning what works for your body. My Dr. is a specialist in sports medicine, and I have been with him over 20 years.

General blood-work is important, but there are so many other things that come into play aside from your typical Total, HDL, and LDL levels. Homocysteine levels, VLDL, C-Reactive Protein, A1C....etc. And exercising plays a big role in off-setting bad eating habits, but will get you by for only so long.

I guess what I am getting at is what G35POPPEDMYCHERRY said...the body is complex.

My training partner is a world class athlete. He holds 6 World titles in various "weight classes", and over 20 National titles.

And he will tell you that he is the last person to ask for dietary advice. He routinely eats junk food, in fact it makes up most of his diet. I know as I have been to competitions with him and I see what he eats. He always has good labs, and always looks phenomenal.

But he is a genetic freak.

That's why I never push my ideas on anyone. What works for me may not work for someone else. I am a big believer in the adage of moderation in everything. Aside from that...follow your own "Moral Compass" and let others do the same.

Putting this particular documentary aside, there is PLENTY of research and patient studies to support eating less meat is a significant healthy lifestyle. I have cut mine down over the years. But by far the most dangerous substances we consume is Sugar!

"Documentary" (more like propaganda) is extremely biased and full of claims that are just not accurate. A lot of those mind blowing experiments are not research. Much of the experiments are not disclosed and only to a hand full of sample size.

Almost everyone could benefit from eating less meat. But do your research and don't just take something at face value.

I found eating phss. .... errrr I mean sushi gives me extra energy. I think it's the oil in the fish that better lubricates my arteries.
