Question Water softener valve

Just found out my house has a water softener which I never uesed before...lol

Well the issue is I don't know what position the valve is and I can't turn it at all.

Just wanted to make sure I don't break anything.

How do I know what state the system is?
How do I turn this damn valve handle?

Thanks!

You will need to get it serviced. Filters need to be re-bed every 2 years and softeners every 5-7 years. I’d get it serviced before flowing water through it into your house and hot water heater.

I assume there is a tank / canister nearby to fill with salt?

The house is pretty "new" and it wasn't running maybe for 6 months.

I have the salt filled and was able to run the system but still can't figure out how to turn the valve...lol

Not so important at the moment but still bugs me.

Mine is vertical when in use and shows green under the notch in the valve handle.

Which would make sense for me. I watched couple videos on YouTube but no one was the same system as in my house. I don't have any colors showed at all.

I would expect that you should see a symbol where that arrow is pointing that corresponds to the three states listed on the valve body. Yours appears to be in an indeterminate state either past the allowed rotation or in between settings. If it is jammed I would leave it alone and contact a plumber who knows about those valves. Best not to mess with it and result in disabling the water supply to your house which would result in an emergency call to a pulmber.

Dude, I recommend you don't try to fix it by yourself. You can add more troubles. It will be well, if you call the plumber from a reliable service and he will do diagnostic. After I had read a lot of stories about these filters and how do they are difficult collected, if I have any questions I always write in support of water softeners San Diego. Well that it works anytime and they provided me very long guarantee on my filter. I think that it is easier than to look for breakages by yourself. Hope that you have sorted out
