Rate the 2021 F1 Cars - 6 races into the season

I thought it would be fun to rate the cars this season about 25% into the season. I will put it up as a poll.

Per minn19 's post in another thread, lets NOT turn this into a dumpster fire. This is FULLY INDEPENDENT of Drivers.

Cars only. Drivers and opinions about drivers are NOT welcome.

Overall I'd say it is RBR.

Most improved would be Ferrari.

Ones that took the biggest step backwards, possible tie between AR and Alpine.

All my opinion only of course.

so far its clearly Red Bull is faster.. in quali and race pace.. Merc's quali pace doesnt look good but during the race, car becomes more compliant.. but im expecting a significant improvement from Merc' in following races..

Ferrari is so interesting.. it has a raw pace but when its loaded with fuel car becomes a like midfield car.. and it seems burns out its tires quite fast as well..

RBR. If Merc figures out the tire warm up issue then I’ll say Merc. Merc’s race pace is on par with RBR.

Outright pace is RBR, but as others have mentioned, race pace is probably equal or close enough to be track dependent between Merc/RBR.

I am amazed how big of a turn around Ferrari has had though. Im waiting for the shoe to drop on them cheating again tbh. I hope I am wrong.

Weren’t they penalized for 2019 by being forced to run a detuned engine or less fuel in 2020? So the 2021 pace is really just where they genuinely are and should’ve been in 2017-2020.

I assume you are talking about Ferrari, and not Red Bull.

How can I say this delicately.... they were "asked" to stop using their fuel management that had been used for prior years.

No penalty, no fine, just stop doing it. The 2020 car was already designed and it was too late to respond, as such 2020 was a bad year for them.

A number of people are surprised by the pace they have as they weren't supposed to get their ducks in row until next year.

Anytime you have a race where there are a handful of potential winners it makes it that much more interesting.

Hey six....

You start a thread asking us to rate cars.... yet you only allow us to pick one car. How can we rate them?

And why is Mercedes in italics and all the others aren't? Are we showing a little bias? :-)

Nothing like putting a zebra in the lineup with a bunch of hippos.

I believe your selection is italicized and not one particular predetermined choice. Care to elaborate why you selected Mercedes?

Ok that explains it.... should I delete my post before six sees it :-)

I just think they are (still) the car to beat. I say this even though I am not a Mercedes fan. Far from it. But I do respect what they have done in this era of F1.

But, you can not ignore what RBR is doing.

I am, and have always been, a Ferrari fan. So I am very happy to see them doing well so far. Can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

It's early, but I think it's pretty obvious RBR has the fastest car on the grid. Let the development wars begin.

Don't know if relevant this year but in recent years the RBR caught up with MB towards the end of the season. They were much more competitive in the second half of the season.

RBR is the fastest....perhaps they are still providing meaningful R&D and producing new aero and PU upgrades while most other teams are static this late in the season and especially knowing the sea change to come with the 2022 FIA F1 Regulations....or, RBR is cheating and haven't been caught....yet.
