I believe this is the right model and right place to put this. X1 EV (I couldn’t make out any exhaust pipes or such) going through some summer testing, not the best pics but just thought I’d share them.
Update: definitely not an EV. And not an X1. |

Could that be a G45 (new X3) prototype?
U11 (x1) has been already in the market for some months, in all variants including iX1 EV, so no need to camouflage it

I dunno, it has me perplexed a bit. Seems like they went out of their way to hide the hood contours and the rear quarter window shape a bit. I also think the fuel door looks a bit bigger than what's on the X1 now. But if it is the new X3, it looks way too similar to the X1. I'd think they'd differentiate the styling just a bit more.

Looks distinctly different from an X1, the taillights don’t protrude into the body line at the quarter panel, this is likely a different model?
Don’t i versions of bmw have the “fuel” cap door up front in the fender anyway? This has a rear positioned gas tank door. Also different hood. Seems as though BMW is shifting the styling approach of the SAV’s towards the well received styling of the relaunched X1. |

Looks like it has adaptive LED headlights, something which I believe is not available on US based X1s. Definitely looks bigger than the current X1. I'd place money it's the new X3.

my original plan was to get the X3 last year, but I didn't really like the older styling of the X3 because it was 6 or 7(?) years old. Then I saw the U11 X1 and I really like the new design with the giant grille and boxy shapes. . I figured that by the time I got tired of my new X1, the next-gen X3 would be available in the US.

Looks similar to the thing I spotted yesterday on an autobahn close to Munich. The rear end 😀
My initial thought was the new (i)X3. External design seems like pumped up X1, which is not that bad. Hope the interior will be closer to 5. |

These are all the U11 X1.
The G45 is a RWD based platform, and as indicated in all actual prototypes of the G45, it has a longer area between the front wheel and the front door that indicate the G45 is a RWD based platform. Also, the rear plate is mounted on the bumper for the G45 on all their prototypes, while these cameo’d of the U11 have the plate on the tailgate instead. Also the front grille and light are exactly the same as rhe U11, but the cameo probably distracts it from view. Keep in mind, BMW are still running cameo’d G70 7 Series and they have been on the market for longer than the U11 X1. |

Yeah you are right, just looked at the other X3 prototypes and it's very different in many respects. This is a U11 X1 being tested for something, maybe a new engine derivative or just an early prototype they are using for testing software changes or something?!?!

Maybe a new iX1 variant? (Smaller/bigger battery) there were some mentions when the iX1 was first released that it would be getting a couple more battery/power options
