How to preheat steering wheel during remote start?

I have steering wheel heat configured by default in the AC control screen and the car does activate heating when the car has the engine running (drive ready mode, if I recall the name correctly).

I found the remote start exceptionally convenient during the cold season but the wheel is always cold. It is ok when temps around 0, but when it goes below the freezing point, you have to wait a few minutes until the steering wheel warms up.

Is there a way to enable steering wheel heating upon remote start?

Not sure if the same applies to ICE cars, but on my iX1, when I turn on the pre-conditioning function via the app the steering wheel heating gets activated.

Since EVs don’t have remote start, the pre-conditioning function replaces that. But, if it not mistaken, ICE vehicles should have both available as two separate functions(?). So if you turn on pre-conditioning when you remote start, then your steering wheel heating should activate.

Alternatively, you be also set a departure time in the car or via the app to automatically activate the pre-conditioning

Yeah same on the PHEV, did it with the wife’s X1 the other day and the seat, wheel and even the rear screen all came on so when I got in all was perfect to drive away and the windows and mirrors all clear and everything warm.
