Break In Period for X1 M35i?

Sorry guys just crawled out of a rock, but can someone tell me if there's a break in period for the M35i? Picked up mine this past weekend and my sales guy says no break in required (I don't know if that means I can drive it like I stole it). Since it's not a true M I'm guessing he's right but I just wanted to confirm. And if there is, what specifically can't I do? (go over certain RPM? go over 80 mph, etc). Thanks guys and please be easy on me lol.

There was a 1000 mi break in period for my 28i, so I'm definitely surprised that they say there's none for the 35i.

There’s definitely a break in period for any new ICE car. Not only for the engine, but also for the tires. The manual mentions the specifics of what you need to do

I waited 1200 miles before i let the car go WOT.

There's somewhere on the web that BMW officially released where they say 1200 miles should be good for a break in period, i forget where but do a quick search on google and it will come up, thats what I did.

lol I trust the car guide more than a sales guy (my 5th bmw, 2 were true M cars)

Awesome guys! Thank you for all the tips! M cars definitely I knew as I've had 2 as well but wasn't quite sure about M variants. I had an M340i a few yrs ago but leased it with 5k already on it. I was definitely "Sunday driving" the whole weekend but I'm guilty of hitting 74 this morning as I lost to the temptation of testing it's acceleration on a stop light lol. I have to say this little suv packs a punch and I love it!

I just got mine past the break-in period, and it definitely packs a punch, fun to drive!

I know BMW doesn't say this, but I still think it's a good idea to have the engine oil and filter replaced just after the break-in period.

Had my BMW dealer perform this. I had a $50 parts/service coupon from them, so it was only a little over $40. Even if I had to pay the full $89, I would still have gladly paid. Like the old saying, oil is cheap... new engine isn't.

(make sure the dealer's tech does NOT reset the engine oil counter so you can get the free oil change at 1-year or 10k miles)

My x3mc was different as are all M vehicles...they change engine & transmission fluid after 1,200 miles. Thereafter it's every ~10,000 miles for engine oil and every 25,000 miles for spark plugs...all warranty of course.

Where are you located??? My dealer quoted me nearly $200 for the oil change

I looked up a random BMW in Southern California(North Hollywood) and their website showed $99 oil/filter change special?

Driving a M35i with 3300 miles and it took probably 2500 miles for the initial bite of the brakes to soften considerably. I didn't do any specific bed in process so that was probably why. By soften I mean I get considerably more modulation now vs at the beginning it was very vague and you either were barely braking or you were aggressively stopping. Touchy.
