DCT downshift - up shift in 24 X1 M35i
Drove the misses X35i today.
Misses told me the auto downshift, especially after braking down a hill, the transmission stays in the lower gear for a much longer time than expected. Is this normal? I duplicated what my wife told me and sure enough, after tapping the brakes when descending down a mild grade, the X35i took a lot longer to upshift into the next higher gear. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this! BTW, outside of the bizarre tranny mentioned above, my only complaint with her SAV is the great oversight of failing to offer a manual override of the asinine start/stop function 🤬🤬🤬 The X35i is a small beast! Love the performance, SW, seats, smallish size, four exhaust tips, stereo, quality/sound of door thunks TYIA/Cheers, B

^^^ yeah, I expect that in sport mode but my wife’s X1 stays in gear a long time when in standard mode too…
I will have the dealer look into it when the X1 goes in for its first OF service at 5k. Cheers

the X1 uses engine braking a lot, it does it in scenarios where you definitely don't need it, but it activates, not sure if that's transmission programming, but it does happen at very odd times, in sport, personal, just not really in efficient.

I have driven on a few long trips in Upstate New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. When going downhill on extended stretches of the road, I could barely fell that the car was downshifting to provide any engine braking. (unlike my previous cars, 4 Mercedes SUVs and cars, that all downshifted distinctly at least one gear when on the same roads) |
