07.24 Update - charging timer issues

New thread following posts on the other general 07.24 thread.......

Anyone (EV/PHEV) having problems with charging schedules since the update?

Wife has the X1 30e which has always been faultless charging overnight at cheap rate.

And now it isn't!

It starts charging briefly when you first plug it in, then pauses as the cars timer kicks in - as normal.
But it never then restarts charging overnight.

Nothing changed with settings. Just the update.

Charger is on dumb charge (no timers).
Have rebooted I drive (long press on wheel).
Logged out and logged back in on idrive.
Uninstalled and reinstalled app.
Changed charge times / % / departure times etc.

Still the fault persists.

Any help appreciated.

Yeah seems we have the same issue. It kicks in when it first gets plugged in then just check and it’s on the charge it was yesterday she hasn’t used it today.

Never had an issue before, it’s 25e by the way but shouldn’t make an issue.

Tried a manual charge and that’s working, have then re-enabled the night charge and cancelled the charge. Will see what happens later, if things don’t trigger automatically definitely a bug.

Hello,

I am experiencing the exact same problem.
The charging does not restart in the scheduled window.
However, if I change any charging parameter in the app (percentage or power) it will start charging.

Another issue is related to the auto parking brake. I noticed, a couple of times, that the parking brake did not engage automatically, after switch off. I already reset the configuration to auto parking brake a couple of times.

Regards,
JP

After not charging the previous night as others are experiencing, mine charged correctly on the timer last night. I didn’t change any settings so not really sure what happened. I do recall seeing a notice, but not paying much attention, that if the car is plugged in when doing a software update this can affect the timed charge??

Hopefully a one off and you all find your cars correctly charged this morning.

Thanks for all the replies.

So it looks like an issue with the update (not just our car / charger).

My wife had also found the same thing about being plugged in during update - which she said it was.

We did an immediate charge last night - so will try a timed charge again in due course (away for a week).

I guess the issue is only for PHEV as my iX1 works fine and restarts successfully. I guess the onboard chargers are different.

Yes issues seem to have started sporadically post the update being installed. 07/24.

It has charge but then on some occasions it didn’t, last night it didn’t and we had to trigger it manually. Frustratingly as we had to change it to immediate it’s started to charge when she plugged it in so I’ve stopped that and resumed the schedule let’s see what happens.

A bit annoying it’s been flawless up to now.

Very similar situation to us.

Had to charge immediately tonight as we need full charge early tmrw morning for a long journey and can't risk it.

Will try timer again during next week.

We did a long journey in the wife's car today (I was passenger) and some other things related to the cars 'memory' seem to have gone to pot.

The saved radio stations were appearing and disappearing on and off.

Switched to USB music and the same was happening there. Sporadic useabiility.

It seems like the update might somehow have screwed up certain memory functions on our car.

Same problem here, since the last update it won't charge in the time slot, like the car was not waking up. I tried changing the timeslot, the hour of departure in the app...etc, it won't work.

I have to launch the charge manually from the app.

On French forum we are several to have the same issue.

Amended the time and level of charge - both in the app and the car. Then tried ours again on the timer last night - still not working.

We are on holiday, so it's now also failed on a different charger.

Had to 'immediate charge' from the app when we got up.

Not sure where to take it from here....
Has anyone contacted BMW?
Has anyone managed to get it working?

My charge level will not change from within the BMW app now, I keep getting a message saying “something went wrong, we could not complete your request”

I changed it within the car from 50% to 80% but the phone app does not see the change, it still reports 50% as the set charge. As a result Octopus will not control the car as it thinks I’m setting a charge level in their app higher than the one in the BMW app.

Still not got it to work at all yet it’s a right pain, should complain but to who. The dealer will be clueless and BMW connected will likely be the same. Completely baffled as to how they test their app or firmware, it seems like change and hope approach.

Our car has charged to the correct set limit (95%) this morning.
It was set to use the timer and the app shows that it charged at the correct time (midnight).

I had done 2 things yesterday.
Reset the ID unit (30 second press on vol button) and changed the charge level in the car (95% from 100% just to change the settings).
We had already changed the start time from 11.30 to 12.00.

I will change the settings back (11.30/100%) and try again tonight and see if it works again.

Fingers crossed.

Success here also, mine is now charging as it should. I had a 20 mile drive in the car yesterday and all seems to have sorted itself out. Charging plan was recognised about 1 minute after plugging the car in. I’m sure in my case it was the BMW app not connecting properly to the car after the software update.

Great things might be sorted, I've changed back from immediate to the planned charge, let's see if it works tonight. Not tired any other steps so I can be the one that hasn't done any other tweaks.

Fingers crossed

Hmmm...... Ours failed again last night after working the night before.

So it's now gone from a 'fault' to an 'intermittent fault'......which is generally more difficult to diagnose and cure.
