It’s annoying as hell, but at least we figured out why it was honking and how to (hopefully) avoid that happening again in the future.

Well just this morning we had the first embarrassment...

Cars are in the driveway - remote start it to warm up, she goes out to the car to load up her stuff for work - puts her bags, and purse in the back as she does - and walks back to get the next item - but she has her phone in her pocket (and apple watch on) so now the car has determined you left with the key and starts honking.

I come running out to see what's wrong - she explains nothing wasn't her, car did it on its own - and can't I tell it the fob is the primary key so it doesn't do that?

From what I've read and everything I can tell - I don't think there is anyway? Does anyone know different - or is there even an option to not honk the damn horn when you leave the vehicle?
Yeah, this is annoying. I had the same issue when we go to the stables and you have to jump out to open the gate.

The good news is, there is a kind of workaround. You just have to choose which you want to be your primary digital key and then either go into the Wallet (iPhone) or Watch - Wallet & Apple Pay (Watch) and select the Digital card and switch off Passive Entry on the secondary device.

You can still use the secondary device if you need it, but it’s the more clunky way of having to interact with the key in the wallet.

Thanks for that info - I'm not sure if this will help with the physical fob scenario but I did have pause about adding my wife's digital key to my phone and mine to hers for this reason... but it sounds like I can configure one to be "passive" - sort of like how the physical digital key card behaves.
