Looks more like the mods just cleaned house of that discussion in general, not just his posts, since it's getting a bit off-topic.

Anyways, MT just had an article about the NK technology which I thought was a good synopsis of what it might entail. Gave some more insight into potential motor layouts and types, battery cells, etc. This concept seems like a good "full spec" showcase of all of this - I do wish the design were what we're getting in production form, but I'm fine if it's just a variant thereof.

His valueless ad homs remain though. Not that I really care--just an observation.

He now follows some of us, stalker style. Noice!

Maybe the mods can just cull all these posts (this one included) and we can keep focus on the topic of the thread instead of keeping track of one guy's posts/follows?

One other aspect I'm curious about is the strategy regarding NK. Maybe it's been discussed but we're getting all these showcases with the next gen EV technology that's coming down the pipeline, yet cars like the next gen iX5 and iX7 are supposedly just CLAR-based EVs and thus not on this new EV platform. Since those two haven't even been released yet, I'm wondering why the decision was made to essentially just start with the i(X)3 first for NK and encumber those larger platforms to being, for lack of a better term, 'last-gen' tech until we get to seemingly the 2030s? I suppose the typical consumer won't understand the nuance enough to care, but for me even though I prefer the size of the 5/7, it would be difficult for me to want one of them over the new-tech 3 series.

They’ve really been dragging their feet getting a BEV X7 going. Seems like a great fit since they’re already big & heavy and about comfort. Really grinds my gears, dadgummit.

It’s pretty hard to follow a blocked poster (except to see quotes). A pretty self-obsessed thought on its part. The actual opposite is true (much like what it says) - I’m trying to get away but I can’t.

Anyway.

Apparently the gen 6 batteries in the news the past couple days will likely be in the CLAR-based EVs. Kind of like the i5 getting the new upgrades wrt to silicon carbide that the iX LCI is receiving.

Gen 6 will be made in SC.

I guess those could just be for exports only.

Yeah fair enough, it makes more sense that there’d be some bridging the gap. If that also includes the new motors then that makes it a bit more palatable even if those other models share the platform with ICE.

Agree. I still won’t buy an iX5 or any CLAR-based EV

The i5 Touring would be an exception - I’d break a lot of my rules for a wagon

Very similar boat. I’m likely to go for the iX3 next even though I’d like something bigger. And any wagon is fair game. Hell even the upcoming Lyriq-V, just being a lowered SUV, gave off a wagonesque impression and had me interested.

Damn. Imagine curbing those wheels. Yeah, no way they’re making it into the protection models. Cool idea though, although, completely pointless.

I don’t think it would work- too aerodynamically inefficient.

We get 23 mpg on our road trips, which is our main use case. 600 miles on a tank. Gas here is $3.85 for premium.
Hard to justify an electric X7 which would probably cost $30k more than the 40i. I wouldn’t want a hybrid version either because it would eliminate storage under the back deck.

FWIW it does appear there's going to be an iX7 slated for production in the latter part of 2027. It'll be a CLAR-based model to start with, but I also think if they're going to use next generation batteries and such, it might at least be on par with the current iX in terms of range and/or efficiency, even though it's a bit bigger car. I'd be interested in it if it were a NK model, but I also rarely road trip and when I do, there is ample charging on my route.

I would be interested in this when our iX lease is up. Thanks for info
