Birthday Golf Clubs
My birthday was yesterday and My parents got me Golf Clubs... They are standard women's clubs and some of them are a bit too long.. Is there anyone in Chicago who knows a really good place to get them cut down???

i would only recommend removing an inch. removing too much of the shaft will change the effectiveness and performance of the clubs.
any specialty golf store can remove the grips, cut them down & reinstall the grips. happy belated.

Ask around at your local pro shops. My Dad makes custom clubs and most of the local courses know him and that he makes clubs.

Cutting down any of them will effect the performance. I got clubs in march and since im only 5'7 (5'4 when i bought them) we removed 1 inch. I was hitting my 5 iron 160. We just got a 1/2 inch added (so 1/2 inch shorter then standard) and my 5 iron is now 175. So even taht will lose distance but make sure they check the lie to make sure its all good.Any reputable shop knows what there doing. And yes it does suck having shorter clubs

if you're handy it's pretty easy to do yourself too (especially if they're steel shafts)
just a tubing cutter's all you need I'm a fan of longer clubs, as you give up accuracy and gain distance which won't help your score much, but it's fun! www.golfsmith.com has a clubmaking section that will probably have a how to..... |
