Nicest looking one out of all the X's and not bad for a mini SUV, if you like that sort of thing.

A curiosity question for those of you who like the back and particularly the taillights. After almost 30 years of L design taillights, what about this taillight design says BMW to you?

Wow, just really looking at those for the first time. Those are pretty bad. Really bad. And, nothing about them says BMW, but that seems to be the new trend. New BMW. Nothing about the car needs to say its a BMW besides the Roundel.

I once read an interview with a BMW design lead. Apologies cannot remember who.

He said that BMW headlight design had moved away form Halo rings as the market was copying them.

Over time fast forward to 2023.

Mission accomplished, what manufacturer would ever wish to copy that rear light design.

I’m not here to provide an endorsement, but that tail lamp design does share continuity with BMW’s latest take on headlight DRL. The rear lamps have the same arrows (inspired by the modern interpretation of the Hoffmister kink) in its design. BMW even noted this design symmetry in their press release.

As for traditionalism- We’re in an age where BMW design is so avant-gard that gauge clusters have an arrow shaped tachometer that runs backwards. At this point, nobody should be surprised that a BMW doesn’t feel obligated to remain within their traditional design cues.

Ok that looks bad. It reminds me of a bad picture that got snapped of our cat where it looks demonic with 4 eyes.

Seems to be priced as expected, the Audi Q3 SB is circa £2000 more than the std Q3, you sre effectively paying for the style difference and fact they will be rarer in the road as not many propke will pay the extra for the styling

If BMW kept with any variation of a "L" taillight, the new X2 would be near perfect like the X1.

I was a fan of the angel eyes/Halos…..time marches on. I don’t think likening this “say’s anything” about me.

My wife is German, and has a current GLA 250. She likes that the X2 is still manufactured in Regensburg, near her home. She’s not interested in ///m branding; it works for her

We’ll throw down a deposit the following weekend.

I agree that things must evolve but the car being made in Germany doesn't change the fact that it's less BMW than ever. It used lack in the driving department and now it seems the looks are following suit. Not discrediting that you and your wife like the car but it is just not right to see key defining features being removed year after year in the name of design evolution.

You might want to read the question again. I didn’t ask what it says about you.

The coronas/angel eyes were a nice addition, but the purpose they served was to bring additional attention to the quad headlights that had become an iconic trademark of BMW.

Looks like a mini-X4. I know some people don't like the looks but this is what people that shop these types of vehicles like these days. That said I'm not sure why you would buy this over the X1 which is handsome and a little more practical.
