I think a lot of people who say, "that taste like chicken" are saying so because of the texture of the meat, not the actual taste. Chicken (for the most part) is a very bland/tasteless meat and it takes on the flavor of what your marinating/cooking it with. According to DP the only meat that doesn't really taste like chicken is "ManMeat". . .I do not personally partake in that funny business so I am going to go ahead and take his word for it.

A is the first letter of the alpahbet 1 is the first number we count, put together it represents the first of the first (the top of the top, the best of the best).

The phrase "A-1" means "top notch" "really good", etc. If you're a good singer you are an A-1 singer, etc.

They named it this so they would always be called "A-1". or simply "America's #1. . .

or this boring explanation, sigh:

1824-1831 : In a time when a king's palate was supreme. Henderson William Brand, chef to England's King George IV, creates a special sauce for the king's table. The king is so impressed with the new sauce, he proclaims it "A1".

1831-- H.W. Brand knowing that he had a great idea leaves the palace walls and starts Brand & Co. where he begins to manufacture meat extracts and essences.
