Looks like taking much longer than expected, 1374 should be the top for this market. Still holding in place my 1260 call just for the correction. Should anything bad happen during that, and I believe we will tread below 1260. For the trading periods feb3-present we have been relatively flat through a trading range of 1340-1350's, while the VIX climbed. We even had days of positive VIX and spx correlation, which is usually a foreshadow of bad things. Time will tell though,by shorts are hanging in there and managed to scrape a huge gain upwards during the spx being flat

High oil price, stronger dollar, weaker markets. Are you referring to the high oil prices per barrel towards the 2008 crash?

Javi what type of trading do you normally do? Commodities based?

Nice charts for my shorts btw The high oil prices are currently being reflected in DOW transports.

Iranian Warships cross into Suez Canal

Quote:
Iranian warships have entered the Mediterranean Sea for the second time since the revolution in 1979, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported.
A destroyer and its supply vessel passed through the Suez Canal and their destination is unclear, the BBC said. An Iranian navy admiral said the mission showed the might of Iran and the country’s message of peace, the BBC reported, citing the official Islamic Republic News Agency.
Iranian vessels sailed into the Mediterranean a year ago in a move that Israel said was a provocation, the BBC said.

And now they have stopped oil sales to British and French companies

Gallup Poll: Unemployment back up to 9% in Mid-February

Recent Gallup Poll has shown a dramatic increase in unemployment, rising from the 8.3% Mid-Jan levels to a new 9% Mid-Feb level. That's a 0.7% increase in one month! Of course, in that long article I wrote a while back, I told you guys about how the unemployment picture was indeed NOT getting better, and that post-January we would begin to see the real data coming out again. Here's the real data:

For those not familiar with Gallup:

Quote:
Gallup's mid-month unemployment reading, based on the 30 days ending Feb. 15, serves as a preliminary estimate of the U.S. government report, and suggests the Bureau of Labor Statistics will likely report on the first Friday of March that its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased in February.
Quote:
The U.S. unemployment rate, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is 9.0% in mid-February, up from 8.6% for January. The mid-month reading normally reflects what the U.S. government reports for the entire month, and is up from 8.3% in mid-January.

EDIT: I'm just also going to follow up with that Iranian warship story. Here's a new video from today.

US Senate backs use of Military Force against Iran

Hopefully we don't end up with world war 3 this year..

Edit: also the unemployment rate increasing sounds about right, since a lot of seasonal workers are done with work now.
