Nice round. Any chip-ins?

Hoping to be able to play one more round in October. Gotta wait for all of this damn rain to stop and dry everything out first.

Not one. But at least 6-7 times, and from difficult places, chipped it stiff with easy tap in putts. My buddies ( of course we have a small wager going) started whining about it. Really made my day.

Got a round in Saturday between the hurricane rain bands.

Where I couldn't miss the fairway the week prior, I hit 0 (that's zero) fairways on Saturday. Worst day off the box I can recall, ever. Was able to salvage 6 pars...but poor putting also haunted me on the back 9. Time to take those lessons.

Got 18 in today. Probably the last round with the yellow ball as the leaves will turn and drop during Oct. Transitioning to the white ball - more difficult for me to see in the air.

My game is finally coming around - just in time for friggen winter :-(

Planning a December trip to Florida. What is/are the best public course(s) in Martin County or adjacent counties? Best to me means course condition, scenery and overall experience including dining.

My favorite courses in that area are the Florida Club in Stuart and Hammock Creek in Palm City.

There’s also the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie. The Peter Dye course is my favorite of the three at PGA. The Fazio course is decent. The Wanamaker course is “ok”, but not for the price.

I honestly cannot tell you about dining as I’ve always went somewhere else for dinner.

The PGA Dye course is public, but very very expensive in the winter.

I played there a couple decades ago for $24 l, cart included during the summer. But it was freaking hot.

I used to be a "polar bear" until I took up golf.

Florida Club and Hammock are over $100.

I was in the area a couple years ago, look for "hot deals" on GolfNow

Polar Bear. I get cold when it drops below 50 degrees.

Played in the 50’s with a 2 club wind and no sun = no fun. Getting ready to shut it down in New England. Nov 1st will be my last round. Hope to get more in down South during the winter.

James, I will ring your doorbell if I get to AZ.

Playing one last time this Sunday (on my bday) with my good friend before we can't golf anymore here in Cincinnati. Looking forward to playing 18 holes!

It's been about 3-4 weeks since I last played..so should be interesting to see how I do.

Also...doesn't help I tore my right bicep playing in our sand volleyball league a few Friday's ago. lol.

Played so so this past Sunday. The weather was damn near perfect! Plus, the course looked amazing for being at the end of the season too!

Driver was good..somewhat pleased with it. Chipping from 100 yards in was very good as well. 9/10 times I would land on the green. Putting was average but I always had a decent first putt.

Now, the irons. Wow...I need to work on them this offseason. I am not sure what is going on. I shanked a lot of my irons shots. I kept hitting the grass / dirt before hitting the ball and would not make good contact. Not sure what is going on. I might go see a golfing instructor this winter a few times to try to figure it out and fix it. Definitely doesn't make the day enjoyable.

Started lessons. Changed my grip and backswing so far. Guy said I should be hitting my 7iron 195-200.

89 Saturday with 43 putts on aerated greens
84 Sunday with 41 putts on non-aerated greens. Found myself on the green-in-2 for 3/4 Par 5's....sadly getting par on all.

Goal for the 2 rounds was not to flub any shots. Can state that goal was met in both rounds.

Something is telling me to just get putting lessons.

Played 18 holes today! Took the day off of work to have a therapy session before the madness starts with the holidays over the next 1.5months. I played alone and enjoyed it a lot! I took my time and had the whole course all to myself!

Played at Devou Park Golf Course in Kentucky that overlooks downtown Cincinnati.

https://www.devouparkgolf.com/

I played pretty well. Its a somewhat short course. A lot of 300-350 holes. A few par three's and only 1 or 2 longer than 350.

Drives were on point! Chipping, from 150-100 yards were surprisingly good! Then the holes where I needed to use my irons for the fairways...total crap...very frustrating.

I was able to take my time and work on a few things and the majority of the holes, I was able to hit a few more balls to get things dialed in.

All in all, was a fun day by myself. Had the music on loud and just enjoyed every minute of it.

Now, time to take lessons for my fairway irons.....

Here are a few pics I took while I was out there.

Anyone snag anything good for Black Friday deals? I was thiiiiiiis close to pulling the trigger on some new T100s but can't make up my mind on a full set or mixed combo bag - maybe T100s for the 7-PW, T150 or 620 MBs for 4-6? Argh.

Nothing this year except I have my first golf lesson with a pro instructor on 12/16. I can't wait to see what he has to say about my iron game..it's pretty nonexistent at this point.

I think I have 1-2 more seasons with my 23 year old irons before upgrading. I most definitely want to upgrade my driver to something better and new for the upcoming work golf league that will start in April.

I am sure I will get a few dozen golf balls and tees for Christmas...so I don't mind.

I will report back on how the lesson went in a few weeks.

i think the golf lesson is a great plan. And while I am not a believer that we can buy a better golf game with the latest most expensive equipment I got to say your combination of:

"""my iron game..it's pretty nonexistent at this point."""

"""I think I have 1-2 more seasons with my 23 year old irons"""

I think a new set of irons fitted to you could help. But ask the pro at your lesson.

All I can say is when PXG first emerged and started selling their last years models for reasonable pricing I bought a set fitted to me and irons are the best part of my game.

Haha! I appreciate it!

I do agree with you. I feel I need a new set of irons as the ones I have are just very old technology and it shows when I strike the ball true..does not go as far as some of the newer irons out there.

It's not like I have a cheap set, I dropped about $1500-$1700 on a brand new set with a 3inch extension 23 years ago.

Callaway Big Bertha X-12 Irons steel stiff flex. 3i-9i, PW, SW

There is a PXG by me that I might check out next year and possibly get fitted. I am 6'4 so the standard length of the club usually has me bending over too much.

Will be interesting to hear what the pro says on the 16th though.

I would definitely place more value on what a pro in person has to say versus some random stranger on the internet

And if you are a person that NEEDS custom fitting I'd get it done. Nowadays if you buy a set they usually waive the fee everywhere. I confess I am a fan of PXG irons. Not their woods or drivers.

A set of last years irons (Gen 6) from them custom built is $159 a club or about $1100 for 7 irons.

But the gap between them and Callaway or Titleist etc isn't marked so long as they are fit.

Ha! I get it but at this point I am open to all suggestions to be honest! But like what I had previously said, I will report back to what he says and if there is any pointers I can share with the group.

I don't need to drop a shit ton of money but I know the technology with my irons to now a days is completly unreal..I think I play enough to where I would see the benefit of it. With that being said, I want to see what the pro says before anything else. I want to get my swing with the irons better before dropping $1k or more on new clubs. However, a driver is a different story!

That PXG price isn't bad at all. Definitely where I want to be.

I want to start playing better courses and going on golf trips but I want to get my irons dialed in first before I drop any sort of money on a golf trip.
