The issue then is that just in time process breaks and the cars are then like this allowed to leave the factory to not slow production. When parts supply does return it’s then get the process back online and then sort out how to fix those cars that left the factory short of parts. Otherwise they never get on top of the issue.

Frustrating for those affected but require to keep things moving for all the other cars being made and minimise further issues that need to get fixed.
Totally fair. Just very frustrating to be one of the unlucky ones waiting for them to get their shit together when it seems no progress is being made sadly.

But it is what it is. The wait continues.

When the X1 was first release one of them the iX1 had a bad batch of EV mounts and motors. Some people waited 3 extra months for those replacement parts to be shipped to dealers for the car then to be torn apart on a ramp and rebuilt. All the while others got their cars quickly. Not a great thing to happen but over a year on I bet few think about it.

Probably one of the issues is that this seems to be M35i delivery issue and not an overall X1 issue. Much more niche part and while important to deliver cars, the quantity being delivered is not such that it's going to ring the fire bells at HQ.

Who knows, all we can do is wait.

This issue is affecting 28i cars as well and I think I read some iX1s as well.

Ah interesting - maybe with later production dates. My dealer is still receiving X1's into inventory.

That’s what I’m saying. I see cars produced before and after mine that don’t have the stop sale. Ultimately very frustrating.

But nothing to do but wait.

Called my dealer today and they said there is no data or work order schedule on when the missing trim parts will be delivered and installed at the VPC. He didn't like that answer so he is going to dig much deeper and give me a more thorough answer. Most likely will be tomorrow. I will post the outcome.

DB
So I’ve had my m35i for just over a week now, here are my thoughts and in no particular order:

- overall I love the car, it’s just big enough to be considered an suv, but feels great on the road and I feel the sportiness of it behind the wheel 100%.
- when I drove it alone, I felt like it sounded great.. the gurgles when you’re in sport mode and you let go of the gas made this car feel like a real M. It was after a few days that i realized it was the iconicsound feature that is a boost of the engine sound through the sound system. It’s not actual gurgles you would hear from a bystander on the street. Kinda was let down, but also felt silly to think a 2.0 engine would gurgle and pop like that to begin with. Either way, it’ll impress some passengers who don’t know better.
- I always wanted the car to be louder, (it def has a low end hum to it) but when driving with my kids and wife on the highway, I did think it was a bit loud. Again, I think iconic sounds was a big part of this. With it off, I think the highway rides are a bit more pleasant
- speaking of family, I went to a wedding this weekend. I had a full car. Wife in the front, and two kids in the back. Rear facing child seat and a front facing child seat. We all fit. Had golf clubs in the trunk with about 3 bags, and a yo-yo stroller. We were at max capacity, but we got by and I was again pleasantly surprised that we all fit. I was worried about the rear facing car seat.
- trunk is kinda small, like I said I carry my golf clubs around so that takes up a good chunk. But enough room left over for a full grocery run. Can’t fit the vista stroller back there with the clubs though.
- the touchscreen does get getting used to. After a couple days fiddling around and playing with everything I got used to it. Kinda annoying how anytime I get a text, the screen will change to Apple play. (If anyone knows how to get around this, please let me know)
- the ride is pretty smooth. It’s definitely sporty and tight and I love it. It’s not as rough as I anticipated from other reviews on the forums. It hugs nicely on turns and accelerates nicely. I find myself cruising and catching myself going 90+ and it doesn’t feel like it. Something about this car makes you want to keep going. It’s a nice feeling
- touchscreen can lag when loading up sometimes. Once it stayed black for a good 4 minutes, didn’t have a speedometer or anything and then it rebooted itself and all was fine.
- I can’t stop looking at it. I love how futuristic and classy it looks.
- sport seats have lumbar support and bolster adjustments
- rims and brakes are sexy af. And brakes are powerful

I’ll add more as I can think of it, just random thoughts I put together

Thanks for the review. Do you have ID 9 on that build or was it ID 8?

Hmmm… Have you tested the exhaust note in Sport Mode? Check out this video of the previous generation X2 M35i. It absolutely has pops and burbles from the outside and utilizes a B48 similarly. I don’t expect more than this, but I certainly would expect this minimally.

I have ID9

And for the gurgles and pops, I haven’t pushed the car too hard yet - still breaking in the engine but i haven’t noticed much of it. Except when it’s in sports mode and iconic sounds is on. I’ll turn iconic sounds off and do the same thing with the gas, and won’t hear any of the gurgles/pops.

Please lmk if you guys know anything else, would love to stunt in front of passerbyers lol

I have iconic sounds on, but in sports
Mode up until 4K rpm, it will gurgle and pop.

I’ll see otw to dealer tomorrow with sound off to see if it’s similar, however can’t roll windows down for another couple of days bc of tint

Yep, I had a prior X2 M35i and you definitely had pops/burbles in Sport mode. OP should give it a minute and complete break in; it's certainly "enhanced" inside but I can't image you wouldn't get a lil somethin' directly from the exhaust as well.

Helpful post. I'll be turning off the iconic sounds for sure, ridiculous concept. I've had 2 M40i's now, and the pops and gurgles were fun when in Sport plus, but normal highway driving I want it quieter. Glad to hear golf clubs can fit in the trunk, I presume without having to remove any clubs, maybe putting the bag in diagonally?

I did not have to remove any of the clubs, but the bag has to go a bit diagonally. theres a side cubby on the front right side of trunk (close to tailgate) that is perfect for the driver heads. still easy to put stuff in the back right, and in front of clubs.

This has been one of the most difficult parts of waiting on this car - no formal or comprehensive reviews and very little info overall. The last gen X2 was quick; 0-60 times of around 4.5 seconds. It sounded nice. People said it was a lot of fun to drive. I'm hoping all of that more or less translates into the X1, but without any real review, it's really hard to say.

I'm coming from an F48 xDrive and I've loved it for the last 4 years. Despite its detractors, I've had fun in it and it served me well for the season of life, but am hoping for my next car to be even more fun.

I really like the X1's styling and think the M35i could be a pretty fun package without being a burden financially, but I do have to say that with so little info, I've begun reading about the X3 M40i and have even talked myself up to an X3M "if it comes to that," haha. But of course the X3 is due for a refresh and I don't want to buy the late styling and be "stuck" with that.

I'm waiting on my local dealer to get an M35i in and hoping that it scratches the itch without needing to fork over 50% more for the X3M.

I'm cross shopping Apples and Oranges, I know.

Is yours an M35i? Just asking as your flair is 28i.

Honestly, if there's no emotion to the exhaust, it would push me toward just getting the X3M. I know it's just a 4 cylinder, but the video I linked of the previous gen X2 would have been enough for me.

FWIW, it is really fun to drive.

My gf (at the time) had an x3 m40i, and i think this is more fun to drive imo.
