I keep a dirty clothes hamper in the garage and block my way back into my spot with it when I leave with a bike. This of course does not help at all at drive thrus or short gas station overhangs.

A previous job had a parking garage that got slightly shorter each floor you went up. That was an unpleasant surprise!

also got a rack, but it's one of those ones that hooks up to a hitch...

I drove about 90 miles all over Houston today looking for a place that could install the ONLY 2" Uhaul Receiver that was in stock for my Challenger, but everyone was closed or "too busy"...

so we'll see about getting the hitch installed tomorrow so that I can run to the bike shop on Tuesday or Wednesday to get the rack installed and take the bikes home......

...bikes are still at the shop for now....

It is secure, has locks and platform support so no need to strap the bikes down to keep them from swaying. Just make sure the mounting points are clean before hooking it up and the paint will be fine. I can have it on the car in two minutes.

Now, granted the rack costs nearly equal to what the two bikes might run...

mine will be similar - I also needed to run out and get a hitch installed a couple days ago....

the rack I'm getting has a 1 1/4" adaprter that will fit into my 2" receiver hitch.....

rack costs $280....

had to get it because of the nature of the Challenger trunk and tail light assembly wouldn't support the cheaper racks with straps...

the hitch drops down fairly low.....

actually scraped it in the street going up into my driveway on Monday HAHAHA !!!!

all this freaking drama for some damn bikes, aaayyy dios miiooooo !!!!!

i'll post pics on Friday when I go run and get the rack installed with the bikes....

wife and I were SUUUUUUPER excited about getting our rack and bikes that we hit Galveston at 3:15pm....

we feel like shit right now - got massive headaches and we are damn near worthless right now HAHA !!!!

oh, as you know being from Georgia, fluid loss is highly noticeable HAHAHA !!!!

we were hating/loving life on the bikes today....

I told her next time we decided to do a beach run within the next 3 or 4 weeks, we would have to GET to Galveston @ 5:45 or 6...

that's a little more comfortable time to ride....

Hate to be dudley do right, but i've seen first hand the life long damage a low speed head injury (even while wearing a helmet) can cause. My mother-in-law went down with a helmet doing less than 10mph. She's got a permeant nerve damage causing limited use of her right leg and permanent sight problems as he eyes can't track together or focus quickly. No more driving, no more biking, no more running. If she weren't wearing the helmet she would be much worse off.

I grew up skate boarding, biking, all without a helmet. But that was then. I'm always wearing a helmet now, even if i'm just riding along side the wife as she goes on long runs.

yesterday my wife and I were casually strolling along the seawall when we heard a gring-gring come up from behind us...
