Typically cars that lose value do not lease well. I've asked dealers why the lease numbers on a mustang were so high and that's been the answer (direct from the dealer).
Honestly I don't really care I have a 2 Fords and a BMW. When I buy a car I don't really care about the depreciation factor. If I like the car I get it. I was just trying to contribute some additional considerations for choosing 1 brand vs the other. Quote:

Didn't seem like Motortrend liked the car at all. The big mention of weight, and they also said car didn't feel connected front to rear. What happened to this being a more European version (ie lose weight, reduce size)? I thought that was the whole idea for it to go global.

heavy and kind of slow, slower or equal to last gen
the gt was able to hang with the prior gen m3 on track (although the handling IMO isn't nearly as good as the m, you had to manhandle the stang bc of its bouncy rear axle). that is flat out not gonna happen with this car. 38xx lbs? 10.8 seconds to 100? the m3 has been tested in 8.5-8.8 second to 100 range. I am disappoint

Its a nice car but Ford took a conservative approach and failed to deliver any real WOW factor thus far.

I'll save you the time and effort and let you in on the truth: it was all rumor and speculation. Completely baseless and a catalyst for hype. If I'm not mistaken, the rumor started with Edmunds Insideline (now known as "Edmunds What's Hot"). They made a completely bullshit article citing a "person who knows stuff going on inside Ford" and claimed specific goals, like a 1.5 foot reduction in length and 400lbs to be dropped (from the S197's 3500-3600 curb). This was picked up by big hubs like AmericanMuscle, which was then spread along by forum members and whatnot. I can't even find the original Insideline article; they deleted it. I remember commenting on it back during the S550's unveiling December 5th of last year, calling them on their bullshit. Somehow, this article exists, with similar numbers saying the same stupid shit. TL;DR - Ford didn't claim this. People just say that Ford did. http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2015...on-a-diet.html

There's always the factory supercharger for the new GT too. A 600+ HP GT for about $40,000. |

Agree with the supercharger point, there is a ton of after market potential with the s550 and I think Ford has a lot more in store for this car over the next cpl few years that make this 1st go round a pass, not to mention various kinks worked out. The Gt350 has been most impressive going around nurburgring, now that is turning into one intriguing vehicle.

That is the same thing about the RC F. Give me one direct source where the chief engineer of the RC F stated he wanted to beat the M4 or any other German rival.

GM might have to dumb down the new Camaro in order to give this little piggy a chance.

And for the Mustang being lighter, this is about as much as you'll find: http://jalopnik.com/the-2015-ford-mu...iet-1148799546 Unless you go to a 1 of the 2 Mustang forums (that are worth a damn) that are the best source for info. |

Regardless of whether Ford mentioned it or not this has been a complaint most of us Mustang owners have been voicing. Most (going by forums) figured that it would lose weight (it was part of the expectations). Now the car is heavier with a tiny more HP so the performance most likely will be a null for us street drivers.
I'm also curious to see how much power those rear axles will handle. I'm personally going to wait for the SVT. Quote:

I remember when I was looking for a new car. As soon as I sat in the 5th gen Camaro, I was already disgusted. I'd rather have a 3rd gen Camaro! The interior is bleh, especially with the stupid plastic piece that goes from the drivers door across the dash and over to the passenger door. I could list all the other BS but that'll be too long.
I liked the 5.0 but the dealer was being a dealer and wouldn't even let the wife and I sit inside or look inside the car.....because, you know....its a $36k car! ZOMG!!!! |

I think the new Mustang is a bit of a disappointment because of the extra weight it picked up. That means slower straight line times and worse city (EPA test) fuel consumption. True, a base model with the performance pack and a pair of Recaros (to make up for the plain interior) is only $37k, but the more you spend the less you get, it seems. There will be tons of base 6 cylinder cars on the street so nobody will give it a second look.
No lap times have been published, that I know of, but I suspect we are looking at something like the outgoing M3. However, these 5.0 Fords are easy to hot rod with headers doing wonders.

If something suddenly happened to my 1'er, as in theft or some other casualty, a 2015 Mustang would be attractive because I can't buy a an M325i, M3 or M4 off a dealer's lot locally either at all or with an enormous list of unwanted options. IDK if I could find one anywhere without a lot of trouble. That means 3 months to order a car and a lot of rental expense. I can get a GT 6-MT with the performance package right off the lot today, and the selection will probably be expanding. Lack of exclusivity means increased availability.
