MMMazing,

Thanks for the kind words, we think he's pretty handsome as well. The pictures were taken with my D200. I'm a photographer so I'm upgrading soon to either the D300, D700, or D3. My wife just gave me the thumbs up!

The D40 is a great start, just make sure you get good lenses. Your camera is only as good as you lens is.

my brother in law has a Jack Russel and it's a pretty well behaved dog for the most part, listens very well, but I just can't stand small dogs.

I would say if you are worried about having a dog that is easy to maintain, let alone think that you may fail as a dog owner, you might not be ready for your own. That's not to say that you never will be, it's alot of responsibility, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
+1 I love Pits, they are incredible dogs. Roommate had one in college. Never hurt a fly (bees maybe, she liked to eat them). Even wanted the FedEx guy to play with her. The pizza guy was another story. He saw we had been smokin' and took a step inside. She walked up about 4 or 5 feet from the door sat down and growled. He says, "Is that a pit bull?" "Yep, sure is." "Later."

Same goes for Rotts and Dobermans.

Love some boxers too. Great great dogs.

I've been thinking about getting an English Bulldog for some reason. It'll be a few years if I ever do. Expensive as hell.

I'd like to see a daushaund and a pit bull mix. That would be the shit.

I've really become a friend to dogs lately. Last few houses i've been in for the first time the dogs just hop in my lap. Then their owners tell me "she hates guys...you must be very relaxed or something."

you guys are killing me........ its so funny because giorgio was alone for the first year or so and he would cry anytime hed hear a dog outside so we got the second... before that giorgio would bark but basically run away when strangers came over... now that we have both and mink [the black one obviously] is extremely active/hyper... they both bark and teamed up to chase our guests its embarassing!

That's funny, reminds me of the DQ commercial where the dog wants the BBQ sauce.

I have had all kinds. Shepards, Irish Setter, Schnauzers, and mixed. The Westie is probably the smartest and also the most head strong of them all. But, I love him.
