I use a safety razor and van der hagen blades. The shave is just as close as with any other 5 blade disposable I've used but I pretty much never get razor burn or ingrowns any more since i started using it.

I use the Merkur Futur DE razor, shaves great and being German made feels very substantial and well engineered.

Same. Tried a number of other Merkurs, Parkers and others and found I always come back to the Futur.

Similarly I have a few nice silver tip brushes and frequently grab my cheapest boars hair. And I seem to have landed on Mitchell's Wool Fat and Speick for shaving cream over much more expensive ones I've tried.

Are you using pressure? I find the real difference of a DE is to let it do all of the work. Don't apply any pressure and it will be a better shave. I have a thick beard and disposables left me with visible five o'clock shadow and a DE allows me to skip a day if the hangover is too severe or the kid takes an extra long shit.

However it comes back to blades. Try a sample pack or two. I think I went through ten to twelve brands and models before landing on one that works for my beard. Personna Med Preps, but Feathers were a close second. Merkur blades are awful and some of the Gillette's are good, but some are wildly bad.

Try different blades. It makes a huge difference. There are some blades that seem specifically designed to make my face bleed.

For sensitive skin and probably all skin types, nothing shaves as well as Gillette for disposables! I use the Fusion Power. For a fast touchup I have a Norelco One Blade that is a MUST HAVE for all guys who care about their "regular personal grooming".

Dollar shave club. One set of 4 blades lasts me forever and I shave like maybe twice a week or once a week if I'm feeling a bit bumish. After a week it bothers me so I have to shave. I dunno how beard guys can deal with that crap on their face.

I tried harrys once. I found their blades butchered my face and I also found they blades would rust. I leave my stuff in the shower. I find if I shave in the shower (after I've showered) never get any irritation.

Unless I use harrys, then

I use Gillette Fusion 5 for face and boys. Clippers with no guard for the noggin, chest and back. Phillips one blade for all the sensitive areas.

Harry's currently

I used Mach 3's forever. That Merkur Futur looks pretty sweet. I might have to give it a shot

I use the same POS Gillette razor I've been using for a decade or more. Twin blade with some BS white bar that's supposed to lubricate your face as you shave. Whatever the F that means.

That said, it works, so why mess with success?

Gillette fusion for sure BUT I have 3 women in my house, wife and twin girls, they steal my once used razors for legs (they claim) a men's razor slightly used is better than ANY woman's razor? (Goldilocks) not to sharp, Resulting in me going to cvs every week...

My son is shaving now (13) he is only allowed to use buzzers (cheap brand) trying to give the kid time before the Miller curse of hourly hair growth, my josh looks like 20, consistently being offered alcoholic beverages @ restaurants
