+1. Grapefruit has long been known as a potientiator for most compounds....extends half-life of certain drugs as well.

As for MJ......I've personally have never tried it. Any job I've ever held had random drug testing. When I retire, I may try it and find out its the best thing ever and wonder why I missed out for so long.

My wife used it years ago when she went through ovarian cancer. She doesn't use now, but said it was the only thing that relieved the pain.

I'm not against it for people who need it to function. As for recreational use, as long as they aren't hurting me I'm fine there as well although I would like to see more information on how much impairment it may cause someone....especially when operating a motor vehicle.

I am in favor of legalizing it, but think most of the medicinal claims for weed and CBD are grossly exaggerated and unproven, other than perhaps helping with nausea or lack of appetite. If someone thinks it helps them, great, but weed is primarily a recreational drug and I'm ok with that.

Please do share your research as that flies in the face of current thinking. Or is that just an opinion? Pain, insomnia, ptsd, appetite, anxiety and a host of other uses are well documented, don't think it's just mass hypnosis.

not going against anything you say...but

all psychiatric drugs are simply bandaids. its still the serotonin hypothesis. not like antihistamines where the pharmacology is black and white. so much gray area on some drugs.

if somone did a trial with thc/cbd whatever like a robust phase iii. I am sure they would return similar results. Cures depression, mechanism unknown and someone would come up with a hypothesis.

feelings are grey area always lol

I thought it was pretty clearly stated as an opinion. My opinion is medicinal benefit claims are overstated because there is a lack of clear, indisputable evidence for most medicinal claims, combined with a large incentive to overstate benefits to support legalization. There are plenty of reasons to remain skeptical of these claims. There are actually people out there who doubt the benefits of vaccines, proven over decades of tests and actual results, yet blindly believe all the claims about weed, which is ass backwards to me.

Like I said, however, I support legalization. If people think it helps them or they want to use it recreationally, fine by me if they do so responsibly. If it is actually proven over long periods of rigorous testing to have the medicinal benefits that are claimed, even better.

NFL might allow marijuana for pain relief. Their words not mine. So it must do something and is probably safer than opiates.

Not exactly imminent (and not sure I would rely on the NFL as a great barometer for health and wellness):

Medical MJ is just an excuse to get high.

I tried some (in the many years since college) and all I know, when I use it I am aware of what is going to happen anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes in the future.

Just like the fact you didn't believe me...

Although cannabis suppresses REM cycle sleep and keeps me from having nightmares, what's more important? Learning how to deal with nightmares and lack of sleep or living on the streets or just being poor. Not worth it; but I will say that I did seem to have a much more enjoyable life when I could partake. It seems to make me focus more, allow things that normally upset not be so much of burden, and generally make me a much more pleasant and tolerable person. Without it, I'm pretty damn serious and wound tighter than a banjo sting about 90% of the time.
this is the only thing I can relate to.....

yo it sucks bring jumpy... like all the flea bugging time.

and paranoia?! well...I can't go anywhere not medicated. look I think people are out to get me and have this fear and rage that comes with it. I can think logically and control my thoughts.

munchies? nah look I've lost twenty pounds since going full time medicated. that's just having a more active lifestyle and actually having the energy to eat right.

pain? compression fracture in cervical spine and mid lumbar, knees, shoulders, hands, feet..... I've had surgeries... you get the picture

it's nice feeling like me again.... sure I'm kinda well dumb for thirty minutes, but that's ok. when I snap back it's like my brain and mind are clear... like right now.

severe depression with anxiety.... I'm not scared... I'm not sad. a bandaid you say? look how can I say this... through medication and proper thinking because of I've been able to come to terms with more things than I've ever been able to. I go to therapy, I do the mindfulness training while medicated, why? because I'm clear. there is so much shit going in up there twenty four seven that I can't remember shit. I can't think straight because of it. Guess what happens when I use cannabis and my brain shuts off? it's like a fucking jolt of energy.

God bless y'all got me tearing up with happiness.

sorry for the sappy shit

I'm not gonna go on and on but I've used my fair share as a younger person. As I've gotten older (40s) my usage has dwindled to a few times a year. Rick is pretty spot on with his assessment. My buddies and I often joke about how our bunions are hurting and we need some Medicinal.

IMO Marijuana is FAR less dangerous for society then alcohol is and it's stupid that's it's not a "legal" recreational drug. DUI, Alcoholism, Domestic Abuse etc etc etc.... are all negative "effects" from societies alcohol usage. The same can't be said for Weed.

In saying that I've heard parts of Colorado are a complete Mess with Homelessness and Crime because of "legalization".

About the only way that you can really link any of the homelessness or crime here to legalization, is that people living on the fringes of society already are attracted to the possibility of easy money in the industry, they follow others people with a more legitimate interest or possibility, or that they hope that due to legalization that more other drug crimes or activities are overlooked by law enforcement or society.
Most of the homeless that I see are definitely either mentally ill, on harder drugs than weed, or just scammers too lazy to work.
I see some panhandlers that are obviously in an organized ring, probably being shuttled in from another area as well.
There is a small area near my office that has a large encampment, that they are having to come in and clear them all out of a riverbank, and do remediation to make it safe again, due to human waste issues, and crime, including s stabbing and multiple rapes recently. The cities on either side have camping bans, so this 1/2 mile stretch is a magnet for campers, and the amount of trash is overwhelming.

On the medicinal use side of it, I have not seen it brought up in this thread, but another segment of people that use CBD and MJ is for seizures, as certain forms of epilepsy react very well, especially when compared to traditional pharmaceutical drugs.
Personally, I know people with fairly severe Adult ADHD type issues, that daily use keeps them focused and able to function normally, and you would not expect them to be smokers, let alone at the amount they use.
For the most part, if I partake, it zones me out more than I would like, but can help me to relax and sleep if used in moderation at night.

My gf is the Lead Massage Therapist at a local Hand & Stone, and she brought home some CBD massage lotion for my left knee. I can usually only walk 8-9 holes of golf before it gets inflamed and stiff... Even when I take a bunch of Advil. The first day I tried it I put it on my bad (left) knee and 13 holes in my good (right) knee started to bother me, and my bad (left) knee was perfect. The next time out golfing I put it on both knees and I had zero pain through 20 holes (I was playing a twilight round)! You can say I am a believer of this massage cream. One disclaimer is there is other pain reliving ingredients besides CBD, so conceivably its the other stuff, but it doesn't matter. This solves my knee pain while playing golf.

My wife also has a knee problem and tried a ($45... WTF) CBD-based ointment recommended by her hairdresser (who is apparently very knowledgeable about everything).

Anyway she was initially very enthusiastic about it after trying it. I thought she might have been reacting to another ingredient that provided a cooling sensation but was happy she felt she had some pain relief. Anyway a month later she is back to using the ointment prescribed by her doctor and much less enthusiastic about the CBD-based ointment. Hopefully you get better sustained results.

not saying driving under the influence is acceptable, but i smoked all day, every day in college so i was high pretty much 100% of the time i was driving or doing anything really. i never had any accidents or tickets and would say i actually drove more cautiously as a result.

i dont really smoke any more though. a few years ago it started causing me to have major tachycardia and anxiety so i had to quit.

also, for all people using CBD, if you are using full spectrum CBD you can still fail a drug test.

Bingo. This is not just your "opinion," this is basically the consensus of the medical community. There isn't enough research to know the long-term effects of cannabis, both good and bad.

However a lot of people who like to get high recreationally and/or want to start a business selling cannabis in different forms lobby for the "medical" argument. It's total bullshit, just admit what your real intentions are.
