Not in the three miles I drove it. I wasn't hammering it too hard. Just some spirited driving.

You got to test drive these in Buena Park, correct? I gotta wait another month to do the same in Universal City. Can't wait. Good job btw!

Yes this was in beautiful Buena Park! I had originally signed up for the Crevier event this weekend but my schedule fit Buena Park much better.

So I asked the M Town representative about this and he said BMW's insurance will pay for the wrecked car. I'm not sure how it affects the driver, but I'm sure it goes on his record right?

@jmg
Thanks for all the feedback and pictures - really interesting. Did any of the BMW representatives say when/if the M2C would be back on the tour? That and the X3M are the two I want to drive most.

We drove the M5 at the Gwinnett BMW event. Every drive was supervised but the guy seemed bored with me doing 85 on side streets. I kinda wondered what the limit was. Apparently between 0 and tree.

I did the Mtown tour yesterday in Pittsburgh..I drove the M5 M2comp and 850i
I was a sunny day in pit so I drove the 850 with the top down..and I must say It sounded great..if the M8 sounds like this but just up a few notches it will be a win. But i agree the ride is soft..but really nice it is most definitely a GT car. As for the M5..while it's the new M5 it rocks..like the OP i also have driven this car on the track..and yes it's fun but u do feel the weight..but the car on the street really does feel Smaller then it really is..and now the M2COMP..i like the OP also have an M3cs And i will tell you i love the DCT..you do not get the punch in the seat with the ZF Like the DCT..but it does shift just as fast.. I did like the M2. But after driving the M3cs It feels a little soft on the power curve..I wish they had it tuned like the CS..but I guess that can be fixed with after market tune..I had a 2016 M235 I pick up in Germany In 2015(wanted M2 but at the time of ordering not released) so the interior is set up the same but with Mseats so I get the OP talking about it being a little off.. Over all the M2 is fun..but I like the m3 a bit more..cant wait to see what the G80 will hold |

I attended a M town event earlier this month at Irvine BMW. I didn't have enough time to try the full fleet, since I was swinging by on my lunch break. Only got to try the M5 comp. As awesome as it is, it pretty much confirmed what I already knew - that the OG M2 is the one for me.

I am all but positive that it will go on the driver's record though, as I doubt this wouldn't be reported to DMV.

My M3 CS is stock except for the MPE which I added because I felt it didn't sound aggressive enough and adds a lot to the driving experience. Having said that here is how each compares: M340i - It's pretty damn fast for non-M. It's still leaning a little more towards street driving than straight up performance though. The stock exhaust sounded just as good if not a little better (maybe due to the aggressive ASD) than my stock M3 CS. Not even close to my MPE though. Nice but boring interior, the M3 CS at least has more textures and sportier seats. The DCT is a better experience for my application and being that this is a M Performance car and not an M car, the lack of individual customization of the steering, suspension, shifting, and drivetrain including the M1 and M2 buttons are unfortunate. M5C - Like I said a brute, but much like the M2C this is a different car for a different purpose. For my needs, I don't need a larger sports sedan. The M3 CS is about as big, if not a little too big, as I want to go for something sporty. M850i - Pure GT car, soft, comfortable, the top down adds a lot of fun, but I wish it was more sporty. They should have called this an 850i. X3MC - for an SAV wow! Not much more I can say about this that I haven't already. Again though, I don't need a sporty SUV and of course the M3 CS is going to handle better, but this is a different car for a different purpose. However, if I ever did need a sporty fast SAV, this would be it.

Thanks! I didn't bother to ask about the return of an M2C. Cross your fingers!

Looks like this event is actually happening next month I was able to register for the m850i xdrive can I drive other cars as well like a real m car? Looks like all the m cars got booked right away lol. Looks like you were able to drive all the cars I'm assuming the guy that crashed survived though the car was totaled.

there is indeed legal responsibility, however... Quote:
, whether or not the policy for the driver is primary or secondary varies from state to state in the US. Here is an article that directly speaks to the rental car climate in California, specifically... and indeed.. there is no requirement of a rental company to request proof of insurance from a renter. https://www.autoslash.com/blog-and-t...surance-gotcha Quote:
BMW NA either 1) has insurance that will cover the loss 2) is self insured and will absorb the loss While there may be a possibility of legally pursuing the negligent driver.. I would say that it really isn't in their best interests, in my opinion due to negative publicity. Let's assume that the individual that " claimed he got lost" and eventually wrecked the M2 had no insurance. Would it look good for BMW to pursue the driver ? If there is insurance involved, then the insurance company for BMW that handles the loss may indeed attempt to pursue recovery from a policy for the driver ... however I highly doubt that BMW would directly pursue the driver. I would agree, and the purpose of collecting ID from each participant in advance, as well as checking the ID at the event, likely would facilitate the ability to do this. probably not..... why would they allow another person to make the same mistake on this tour? If you just had to make an insurance claim.. (pick the loss... hail... flood.. collision.. or an employer providing insurance for an employee workers comp claim. ) would you immediately create the same exposure for yourself again or would you find some ways to reduce your exposure or mitigate future losses? |
