R8 V10 with the gate no doubt. That's going to be a sought after ride going forward and already is today. If you get bored, you'll come out flush.
I just find a hard time growing bored with that. Not going to find many out there (with two or three pedals), cool factor is high, gated manual is ultra cool, and a V10 noise behind will never grow old. I say go with what will make you happier, and I certainly cannot see you losing money when (if) you do. Good experience with a high probability you get to own it for "free." |

All I知 gonna say is drive the Cayman GTS. I drove a Cayman S and the gearing was a legitimate issue for me. You cannot get past second gear without going way over the speed limit. I知 in no way taking anything away from the Cayman because it is a glorious drivers car, but take it for a spin for sure.
I知 with the person that said get a GT3 manual. That痴 my next goal. |

You and I tend to disagree on car stuff. I do have a Spyder on order. I always consider the R8, while nice, a poor substitute for its Lamborghini cousin. Audis are very nice overall and I think it’s great Audi even attempted something like the R8. Me personally, there’d be no way I’d buy an R8 without a very good warranty or CPO, but then you’re talking automatic transmission and into the low $100k range which is probably what a 718 4.0 GTS or Spyder will cost once you put options on it like a steering wheel lol.
Maybe you should consider a 911 or 911s? You can probably pick up a CPO one in a similar price range. You can get a base 911 depending on options of course and dealer discount. |

GT3 manual is beyond my budget, but 991.2 touring would be my choice if I had the funds |

If you have big feet the R8 is not going to be very pleasant to drive. The dead pedal interferes with the clutch.
I recently drove an R8 V8 model and the M3 was more enjoyable. Steering feel and overall responsiveness was better. The dead pedal/clutch was the definite deal breaker for me. |

I would rather a lower spec GT4/Spyder than a GTS 4.0. Pricing is basically the same if you don't go crazy with options.
R8 V10 is a very different car than a 718 GTS/GT4. Heavier, less agile, faster in a straight line, and not under warranty. It is mid engine but feels more of a GT than a true sports car. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Both are very special cars, just different. |

Having a sports car with such an amazing naturally aspirated engine will be the pinnacle of my automotive journey, it's realistically the most exotic car I will ever have so I should go for it |

I think its gotta be the R8.
Since a manual is such a priority for you, i'd offer the following: I'm slightly annoyed at the auto-rev matching in the M2 comp, enough that I drive it with no stability control on a large percentage of the time just to turn off the rev-matching. That's a relatively small problem, the Cayman's gearing issue is not a small one. It's an engine that should be run at high RPM's in a car with barely any ability to get to those higher RPM's in any reasonable gear (without breaking the law.) I don't know about you, but this would bother the hell out of me any time I drove it. If you're just gonna say "Fuck it" and take the speeding tickets, maaaybe I can see the Cayman. But honestly, just go with the R8, it's one of the more unique shifting experiences out there and honestly, how many M/T AWD cars are there left? That's a configuration that'll likely die out in the next few years. |
