Esquire magazine contacted me in early 1998 to use a couple of my bikes in a photo-shoot fashion spread. The result was an 8-page spread in their July 1988 issue with the Kennedy brothers on the cover. The model was Louise Forsling who also appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition that same year. I was younger then, but that's not me in the photo. I was there for every minute of the session though, which took two-days. The photographer flew in from Paris. I did the location search since they picked awful spots. They paid me more to use the bikes than I'd paid for the red R60/5 months earlier which I'd just completed getting on the road. The other bike was the '81 R100CS in the top photo. Both bikes are still in my garage at the moment I'm typing this.

Its really a great do all bike, if I didnt already have the Griso Id likely have an S4R that I came across. You can track it, you can put luggage on it, its a reasonably comfortable seat, etc.

thanks man. been going back and forth on selling it, as i don't ride as much as I used to. also, when I'm off it in the winter I start to realize just how dangerous it is to ride in general. too much to lose.
I have been pining for a 1290r though. Anyone else starting to 2nd guess it??

I'd also go carve up the malibu canyons during the weekdays. Except Tuesday's (trash day) and Thursday's it's PCH on the ocean side of the mountain. |

My "other" BMW- a 2015 R1200GS-LC. It's a unicorn-- a European bike that was imported to the states via a military sales program (Figuring out title, license and registration? THAT was fun.) and rides more or less like a sport bike with a backpack.
22 States so far.....all Solo and unsupported. Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington State, Oregon, Northern California, Southern California, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Upper Peninsula Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota & South Dakota. Toying with heading East this summer to knock out a few more if I can find the time. R.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

[QUOTE="DETRoadster;28590622"]No such thing as too many motorcycle threads. Welcome coonz !
Current bikes for me are: 2014 Moto Guzzi V7 Racer 2019 Honda Monkey 125 (my wife's first bike) 2015 custom big twin boardtracker that I built in my shop. My first full bike build! Do like that boardtracker, especially that wishbone rigid. I grew up in an era of rigid frame Harley bikes. Don't see that much today, not many guys got the sand to ride rigids. Four of us ran around together on Harley bikes, three of which were rigids except mine. I certainly understand the old man back as I am there myself. Got out of the motorcycle scene some years as my back got the best of me. Other interests also pushed the process. Did manage to build this custom, 84 Softail. First year of the model with the Evolution motor. Built as as solo rider as the wife refused to ride.

Been there, but not on a bike. But, thanks for the idea-- I'm always looking for a good "bike destination" (or string of destinations), and I've been mulling an east coast tour for a while now!
