Frequently when light change from red to green, the car does not move when I depress gas pedal all the way down, until about half a second after the pedal is all the way down. People behind me sometimes honk at me but there's nothing I can do if the car engine doesn't kick in and move. Now I learned a trick, which is to keep my eyes on the light from either side for when they change from red to yellow to green. When I see their side is at yellow, I start pressing gas and that allowed engine to get a head start so I can start moving when it changes red to green on my direction.
Ok but doesn't the 330 have a physical button to defeat the stop/start without diving into the iDrive menu? Easy-peasy.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you create your shortcut to do this? I have only had my x1 for a few days and I haven’t figured out all the ins and outs. I HATE the auto stop start and would love to know how to get rid of it more easily than going into settings every time I turn the engine on!

go into the iDrive menu to the stop/start on/off button, and then press and hold that button. a menu will pop up with an option to add a shortcut. same for most functions. definitely go back to the dealer for your "encore delivery" with a genius

If you're cruising on the freeway and toggle to L, it'd likely go to L6?

I read that L is one gear lower than D — which is good for when you need engine braking or for acceleration.

I'm used to driving a manual car and using engine braking around town i.e., coming up to traffic lights etc. Can I use L for this, or not really?

No replys on this one? Curious about how L behaves... I don't want to spend more to get the fancy M steering wheel to get the shift paddles...

Also regarding L, i normally use S in another car for takeovers to have increased acceleration, would L also work on that scenario? The car has better times in 0-60 on L then in regular D?

Just curious on this whole "L" mode... It was way easier just to add paddles or a way to change gears on all models but well...

I love the irony of a guy being morally superior on a BMW forum.

L mode is just putting the car in a lower gear, not manual shifting. You don't want to be driving around in 3rd or 4th gear. If you don't care about paddle shifters or manual mode, then drive the car like the automatic transmission that it is.

How is trying to get people to understand the real science of combustion irony?
Are you that threatened by meaningful information?
The world is facing a 5 alarm fire. And it doesn't matter if your in
a Kia or a BMW or whatever.

It's not like I called you a self centered helicopter baby

Some us factored into our purchase the 34+ mpg the x1 gets on the highway....
While still being fun to drive. It's why I chose the x1 over the X3.
And if having morals is somehow a negative in your view, that says more about you

p.s. Why do you keep all these things on the top of your head?, Doesn't it make people look at you funny and difficult to drive without the sunroof open.?
that's just to prepare myself for when my 530i arrives sometime in early April? I probably should not be reading the G60 5-series forum, but I couldn't help it. Then again, I am already well acquainted with most of the common flaws of the G60 that people have written about, so I will not be caught off-guard.

P.S. I could have gotten a Lexus and be bored to death with nothing to report... what's the fun in that?

Am I supposed to take you seriously? Because I can't when you're preaching about how bad the combustion engine is, yet you still bought one in 2023 when plenty of other viable options exist.

I'm going to Panda Express to get some deep fried apple pies. And I'm using Sport mode the entire time there and back just to spite you and the Earth.

Self Centered Helicopter Baby (SCHB for short) signing out.

When I decided our 11 year old X1 needed to be replaced an EV was what I expected to buy. But after ALOT of study they aren't yet a good choice for where we live. It can be 10F to minus 10F here for weeks on end. Our Summers are short, most driving is at highway speeds with very little traffic. All this cuts the published battery life almost in half.
And the battery is being drained when we're out all day skiing to keep the battery warm.
We also have hundreds of miles between charge stations and no recovery vehicles if the battery should die. If an accident should delay us on the highway (which happens here) it's possible we could burn the battery for heat and run out of energy.
And if that's not enough, much of our power comes from coal fired plants.

So yeah, I bought the most fuel efficient ICE BMW as it's the best thing for our situation.

Keep on being you. I'm sure your a real gem

I was just messing with you. You don't owe anyone an explanation as to why you bought the vehicle you did, especially on a forum filled with people you don't know.

I kinda feel like I do. Way too many idiots letting the world know they don't need, or want to do the right thing. It gives license to others to behave badly. I think it happens because everyone just lets them off the hook. People are adverse to confrontation despite the dire consequences to people and wildlife

I figure letting people know that some (hopefully many) people are taking this seriously and putting thought into our actions..... Maybe some of it will rub off and we will finally get round to doing what should have been done decades ago.

That's all fair and you aren't wrong. The amount of Ram 2500s, Dodge Hellcats, Corvette Z06s, etc. running around acting like they own the place fully prove your point.

One way that discourages having a ridiculous vehicle like that over here in Germany is the price of gasoline. It's about $1.90 per liter for premium, or $7.60 per gallon. $100 to fill up a 13 gallon tank!

Before Russia invaded Ukraine, the price of natural gas to our home was rather expensive, around $400 a month. Now it's double that! Plus it's $400/mo for electricity. $1200 a month for utilities. We're lucky we can afford it, but I feel bad for people who were just scraping by prior to this.

That's insane! The whole world seems to be going mad. Similar to before the 2nd WW....
Only this time the Western allies are just as screwed up as the rest. The climate effects are just being registered with lots more to come. Hard to see how this goes well unless we all start to really cooperate

I don't have L Mode, I can't find it.

I have a xLine PHEV xDrive25. (Not an MSport one, really X Line)

I have pedal shifters though.

When I pull the gear liver one more time when at D, the car moves to Sport mode.

Is it normal I don't have L mode?

(Also to avoid any strong reaction, I may not need it, asking just out of curiosity)

When in Drive, pull the transmission toggle back one more time - that puts the transmission in L mode. Pull it back again to go back to D.
