How times have changed....my realistic 'dream car' in high school was a Civic Si or RSX-S. Couldn't imagine having 300HP+ performance car when I was 17, would have definitely been too immature and inexperienced to handle that power.

I don’t think I’ll be driving it crazy for sure ! Gonna have my dad on the side with me if I ever decide to try pushing the car since he’s pretty experienced with cars.

There’s a reason it costs more than the Supra. Just the general materials are going to be nicer in the BMW. Supra uses an older version of idrive as well. Also, can get M340 in xDrive.
Nothing wrong with the Toyota at all. From a performance standpoint, be about the same. But all things equal and price being similar, I’d have a tough time choosing it over the BMW. |

Well used $500.00 Toyota 1200 Corolla purchased with money I earned worked well for me. Parents said gas and insurance was on me the second my GPA went below 3.0.

That’s great ! I’m also paying for this with money I worked very hard for since last year ! I just think that if I have the money, I might as well buy something i’d want to drive everyday.

I know it looks fast , but it was timed 0-60 with a sundial. I think my neighbor's riding lawn mower had more HP.

No way in hell my daughter (21 now) would have been able to drive an M340i in a responsible manner when she was 17 and still in HS...I would have been on pins&needles the whole time she's out driving around, especially w her friends. Peer pressure is a mofo! She got a CPO 330i lease return instead

I think there is a certain right of passage to having a cheap shit box in need of constant repair for your first car.

Oh absolutely. That uneasy feeling when you approach the vehicle knowing it most likely will shit the bed before I make it to my destination...I could feel the beads of stress induced sweat building on my forehead knowing that I'd be spending my entire paycheck for the week fixing it just so I can get to work to make more money to continue fixing it. Fun times.
Oh the joy's of not having financially stable parents lmfao!

I’m 41. I like the Supra, but got “old person” version Z4. The Supra was a little too boy-racer for me. |

Any money you put into buying a fancy car now, is money you will not have for your future. Any money that you invest wisely now, can be used to buy a fancy car in the future to go into the nice house that you can also purchase. That’s without talking about college and such. I didn’t have a car until I inherited an elderly relative’s car while in college. We weren’t permitted to own our own cars. If I were in your shoes, I would stick with that 328i. Learn from it and have fun with it. I would still be driving my own 328xi M-Sport wagon, had a pothole not totaled it. I suppose that if you and your family have the means both to pay for and afford (the two are not the same) such a car, and mod it in ways that could put added stress on it, then others can give you more specific advice. But that’s my $0.02. Take it for what it’s worth. P.S. I heartily support the recommendation that you work on honing your driving skills with what you have. Sign up for track and other courses. Learn how to make the most of what you already own.

It terribly sad that "good views" and "content" are criteria for buying a car these days.

While the Supra is a better looking car than the M340i, it is like driving in a cave. It was on the short list for my last car and the extra (a boatload of extra) power was not enough for me to chose the Supra over my Toyota 86.
But then going back to an earlier post, part of my reasoning for this was to improve myself as a driver. My BMW covered up for lots of mistakes that I would make on the track, where as the 86 makes me a substantially better driver. So between the Supra and M340i I would go with the 3-series. It is a much more flexible vehicle.

If the G82 is what you actually want then I'd hold-off and save up for it. MSRP with insurance and fuel included it's a hefty cost basis though. At a younger age insurance companies will quote absolutely insane rates so I'd definitely look into that before pulling the trigger on it. The G82 LCI will definitely garner the most content viewership especially coming from a youthful personality.
