Thats really good news thanks.

Considering the lag is akin to the "bog" one might experience in a manual transmission when having not given the car enough gas off the line in 1st gear... then the only way to "give it more gas" is by increasing the idle RPM.

Kick the transmission into S, as seen on the photo. While at a stop, you'll notice the idle RPM increase by nearly double to 1400rpm. I experience zero lag or bog from this simple change. Now granted I also have AS/S deleted which helps significantly as well.

How did you "delete" the AS/S?

Holy crap this is literally a game changer for me and I will do this probably immediately. I was considering selling the X1 from how frustrating and terrible the ASS is.

This is an honest question - what is the actual advantage of doing this other than the fact that you don’t have to swipe down to the shortcuts menu and tap a button?

TBH I haven't gone through with it yet (but likely will -- as a side note since its all behind the glove box and passenger footwell I'm thinking I may make it a 2fer and wire up the missing glove box light that BMW should be fucking caned for omitting in a $60K car)

but the way I see it it's the not having to remember to do it factor... if you have good routine, muscle memory, whatever and you always disable anyway you're probable in the camp of "why bother" but if you hop in and drive off and are reminded on your every first stop that you didn't - IFYKYK

My routine for the last at least 13+ years (when I got my first built in nav) is get in the car, start the engine, buckle my seatbelt, press ok on the nav and hit whichever other buttons (or tasks like putting my phone on the charger as needed) before I even think about turning off the parking brake and putting the car in drive (or into 1st gear). I always start the car first to give the engine a minute to warm up while I’m doing the other tasks.

I’m far more pissed off at BMW pulling the USB audio support than I am the glove box light, but that could also be because I’m a woman who can find anything in her purse by touch. I don’t need to actually look it in it find stuff. 😂 It’s beyond stupid that they cheaped out on a light bulb, but I’m not mad. I would happily have paid a few extra dollars if they had included these things.

The install of the module is simple and easy, and for me, working on the car is also gratifying. The module is cheap at $80. Disabling AS/S is not a unique desire, and the desire is self explanatory. Either a person values the convenience that disabling it brings, enough to spend $80 and 45 minutes of your time, or they don't. Me personally, I'm a sucker for making my driving experience as enjoyable and as convenient as possible. I'm also a sucker for any excuse to work on the car. And then I'm also a sucker for defeating a system in my own car that I don't want to be in place.

Oh I am pissed about the USB dealy too - but I dont think there's any DIY way to fix, and I agree - I woulve paid no problem - BMW floods us with surveys why not ask "would you pay $100 more for a $10 part if that was the only way to get it?"

and I guess you've never played with esys or bimmercode then - you'd off turned off the ASS and now desperate to find a way back

1. It's extremely annoying to constantly have to do this. I picked up my nephew last night from practice. I was waiting in the car so I turned it off. He arrives, and I turn car back on and as I'm leaving the parking lot, the ASS kicks in as I'm trying to turn INTO the freaking street, which is dangerous. I'm trying to punch it so I don't get hit. Instead it does the stupid stall.

2. I cannot imagine constantly turning on and off the engine is healthy. Idk if anyone can convince me otherwise.

Correct. I have never used anything like bimmercode, and I honestly doubt I would. The exception would probably be if there was a way to code an always on SMALL compass showing the cardinal directions into the nav (not the giant one that you can select) or the corner of the rear view mirror like they used to do. Given the fact that there doesn’t seem to be impending breakthrough on coding for iD9, it is just something that I will deal with.

I doubt these concerns are unique to the 2025 m35. Seems like they are generic ID 9 issues applicable to all X1 models with ID9

This might be DIYable and without coding. See: https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2152683

The HU-H6 head unit should have a USB port on the back. I’d find it totally plausible that BMW simply removed the active USB hub and wiring to the HU (especially since ‘24 models had it) versus any real internal changes or software changes.
