Well since the N54 is turbo charged and has been winning for years, and the 1.6L PSA I4 also won, and the S85 V10 is turbocharged and did not win, and all their only other turbocharged engine is behind the V10 - no, turbo charging has absolutely nothing to do with them not winning more awards.

I take all of these awards with a pinch of salt, reason being, look at who do the voting.
Would I personally rate the S65 a better engine than the latest Carrera 3.8L DI, no and for obvious reasons, no direct injection, weak torque, poor emissions and poor economy. But it is a brilliant engine, very linear, very responsive and quite musical. In my opinion only the most technically advanced engines should be nominated which would have ruled the M3 out of the running. |
