OP, seems like you like the exaust on the c63. listen to this m3 exaust first before making your decision. m3 sound is more sophisticated than that big displacement engine from the c63.
as for torque, you need to rev the m3 as some members have pointed out. c63 has lot of torque which is to be expected from a 6.2L v8. look wise, the c63 amg can't hold a candle to the m3 IMO except that it looks huge and about to eat you alive...similar to the gtr kind of way, but worse than the gtr. interior such as dash, button, etc are junk except for the awesome seat which I like. handling, m3 owns it by a mile. |

It's funny, people here are such brand snobs. The C63 is basically the German version of a muscle car, but everyone wants one. The Z06 on the other hand is an actual muscle car that has racing heritage, would run circles around the E92 M3, C63 and RS4 for LESS money now days, and scares the crap out of Ferrari and Aston Martin at the FIA GT, but it's "junk made by GM."

And you sound petty. It's not a show of good character to be so envious of those more capable than you. That is all. Quote:
Haven't heard anyone talk down the Z06 so not sure why you're brining up. Also, at least to me, there's a gap in amneties/features offered in C63 and Z06. |

The gap in "amenities" is still less than the gap in performance.

I'd take a CTS-V over a C63 however. It's better in every single way in terms of performance. |

I also cry when people make fun of me for not being able to afford a nicer car.

and I'm used to NewSong always wanting to argue etc
but did the op mention at all that he wanted to take any of the cars to a track? So any argument relating to track based performance, or one that wants to race, would be irrelevant no? When I mentioned suspension mods, LSD was implied. So, like Kroy mentioned, it would really help the 335i out and regarding the Z06, you can't even bring that into the equation.. It's a 2 seater with little luggage room when compared to e9X M3/335i/c63/cts-v Z06 has racing heritage... but... back to what I just mentioned earlier: did the op (or anyone) mention racing/going on a track? I'd love a Z06 as a weekend car, but as I learned in the past, 2 seats just doesn't cut it. The post by Stolky was good and relevant. I don't think he'll mind the 'step down' from an e63 Cs fit into more parking spaces :P

Not all that unlikely. My E63 lease is up soon (see my earlier post), and I'm making the same switch, at 49 years old.

It's weird for me to keep flip-flopping on these cars, but I don't think you'd be happy in the long term with a C63 (as opposed to an M3).
We have a C63 in our family, not an M3. Compared to my 335i, it's faster, more agile, and better braking. However, I've found a few nuances about its ride the past few times I've driven it. I've praised its direct, crisp, light steering tons of times, but I've found something weird about it today. You know how our E9Xs have some give in the steering and they're a bit heavier? Yeah, I enjoy that. After driving the two back-to-back, as much as I enjoyed the faster rack of the C63, I didn't find it as fun to drive. The car's weight is also harder to balance. Don't know how hard you drive your cars (or if you're actually a sane driver when you get to those isolated backroads), but I like how easily I can access my 335i's capabilities. I can honestly balance it in mild slides without breaking a sweat. It makes anyone look like a pro. The C63 is fun, but you have to baby the throttle if you like to mess around with oversteer. I can feel it loading up the tires, but I don't like the feeling, if that makes sense. One last thing, and my primary complaint that I found with the C63 - the transmission. Lag time is worse than our steptronics, but the actual gear changes themselves are faster, and much better sounding of course. You also can't stack shift commands. Stupid mistake. Anyways, the C63 is still the better car, as it should be. But, I'm not sure if it's worth the extra coin in the long run. I found myself a little bored last time I drove it. Once you get accustomed to the acceleration, and if you have music drowning out that exhaust, you start to notice the little things like the steering, the brakes, and the suspension. Maybe you should go test drive one again. I personally say, and without any bias, that you should go test drive it against an M3 back-to-back. I have a feeling that the M3, with its added balance, would be the more tempting buy for long term ownership. The C63 will always sound better, and probably get more looks, but that gets old eventually. Maybe I'm just getting tired of ours.

Seriously, wise old guys like us, that love cars, know automotive beauty when we see it. Not always about the fastest and most bad ass, sometimes there's just something special that comes together in a car that makes it a joy to have. I see it in the 335s, most definitely NOT in the 5 and 7 series cars. I've been going back and forth some between the E92 and the LCI E90 (M Sports). Both are gorgeous, and I have little kids, so the E90 would be more practical for me by a longshot. But, that coupe is just so lovely. I literally think it's one of the best and most beautiful cars on the road, regardless of price. What color is he getting? |

Thanks for all the replies so far guys. I am heading out this weekend to test out the M3 and C63 back to back on the same day. My prior test drives were separated by a week gap. I think it will be more beneficial as far as comparisons go to go straight from dealership to dealership. I really dont feel i need to test the M3 again, but to be thorough i will. The C63 i am going to see is on sale for 58k with 14,000 miles and the M3 is 56K with 17,000 miles. Just a side note, one of the surgeons i work with just got an 08' c63 for 54k. It is red exterior with black interior. Wouldnt have been my color combo of choice but it still looks insane and he did a great job negotiating the price down,

Another thing about the 335i is the faulty HPFP, the C63 and M3 don't have that problem, and won't leave you stranded on some highway for an hour because of it.

Well I'm on my...3rd. It's never been a big deal. When it does act up, it usually doesn't happen again. I just think, hey, I'm passing by the dealer, I'll drop my car off and go test drive something new that came out and pick it up in an hour.

If truth = exaggeration, then I guess I do.
