Yea that's how I think it is for most people. Adobe products are insanely overpriced. And new versions are marginally better at best. Most of the improvements are what should have come as free bug fixes or settings.

I still have CS3 and have no idea how to use all the features.
The content aware feature of CS5 is totally worth it. I spent a couple hrs the other day rebuilding some panoramic pictures that had pieces missing.

It works. It just doesn't work perfectly. In many situations, you can see artifacts, blurry textures, or just failed results. It's not going to magically clean up all your images. It's useful in cases where it works. But so was the spot healing brush in CS4. Content-aware is a few steps better. I guess my point is, I wouldn't buy CS5 just for that feature. It's not the holy grail Adobe made it out to be. But when it works, it saves you a few minutes that any competent photoshop user could do by cloning manually.

I wasn't trying to be. Don't read into posts so much.

I'm ordering just PS tomorrow (for $199 on the student discount), I don't think I need to upgrade the entire CS suite from 4 to 5 right?

You don't. But when it comes time to upgrade to CS6, it will cost you a bit more to upgrade (back to the entire suite).

Been playing with PS5 for a few days now and I like it - some nice additions including content aware FILL. The mini-bridge is useful and it's nice to have HDR function from within the program. Get's a thumbs up from me but not sure it's enough of a step up from 4 to warrant the price.
The CA Fill works pretty well most of the time tbh.

Coming from nothing, except an old copy of CS3 at work, this will be a nice upgrade for me. Looking forward to learing how to navigate it.

I did the same thing with the CS5 Design. Saved $1,000 because of the student discount

I just got an email from Apple that my CS5 will be delivered by Friday! I can't wait. Anyone know of a good way to get online instruction or tips how to learn the software?

When my colleague "bought" CS4, she downloaded the demo from Adobe's site then applied a patch from a torrent so the demo wouldn't expire. Idk if that will be possible with CS5..
