That Devon is cool as hell, I bet it costs a shit load though. And I just can't see paying big money for a watch that runs on batteries.
Edit: That thing costs 15K, I could make a list a mile long of watches I would get for that kind of money. Starting with a Lange 1 |

the brand might be mainstream but i don't think you'll see too many people with this specific watch:

U1 & 356 are usually on my wrist. Great watches and built like a tank.

That Devon Thread 1 watch looks interesting but on second thought and closer inspection.... $15K for a "ticker tape" watch with a giant a clear polycarbonate case(!) "powered by a lithium polymer rechargeable cell that holds enough power to keep it active for two weeks at a time"? ...And not to mention the size of that crown! (knob)

PP is the greatest watchmanufacturer in the world imo. A vintage 1527 or the newer 5970/5002/5004/5074. One small problem:$$$$$ My father once owned a simple Calatrava back in the eighties but sold it because it was only 33/34mm in diameter. |

If you guys like the Urwerk then check out the watch that inspired it, the Harry Winston Opus V. I hope I never see one in person because I'll end up going to jail for stealing it. As for PP, great watches. I just wish they made them a bit bigger because a 36-38mm case looks tiny on a big guy like me. I am a big fan of Vascheron, I want an Oversease so bad I can taste it. |

I've got a couple Omegas as well and just got an Orient for a daily. You might want to check out Lum-Tec, I hear they are made in the USA. They have done interesting things with lume.

Dunno if its your style but for that price range you could easily get a Movado. I have one and like it a lot. When you think about all the past watches you've broken etc, it makes you appreciate a decent watch when it sticks together.

My wife gave me a LP Stratosphere. Not expensive and still different.
Not exactly sure why everyone insists on posting all those watches that are surely out of reach for most of us. If I could afford one of those watches I would not be driving a BMW, that's for sure. People needs to stop being so pretentious and start accepting reality and being happy with what they got. Whatever it is, be it expensive or cheap, as long as it's yours and you like it, that's all it should matter. http://www.lpwatchgroup.com/6311_20_361_P520C190.cfm

That said, I did a little digging on some watch forums and various places on-line and the owners seem to be pretty happy with them (although the general consensus is that their price was getting too high). They seem to be solidly built and often come w/ 2-3 extra straps (leather/rubber/SS), have sapphire crystals + AR coating and have either free lifetime battery replacement. A few w/ different movements come w/ free lifetime timing adjustments. Pretty good deal IMO. These aren't collectors watches, but seem to be fairly good sport watches starting at around $400. I'm thinking of picking up a Combat B43 (comes w/ 2 NATO straps) and a M Chronograph along w/ a Hamilton Jazz Master Auto Chrono (has the trusty Val 7750 movement) until the IWC Portofino Chrono comes in. The new model looks pretty sweet of the outgoing model. Lum Tec offers military discounts, too, BTW. Their lume is top notch, too.
