I feel the same way about my E46 M3. I have plenty of opportunities to buy other cars, but since they don't make the E46 anymore and it's now a gone design, I'll keep it forever or until the wheels stop rolling, but since it's a BMW, time will probably run out first....

Passion and appreciation goes hand to hand. The real beauty of this car is in fact the way that it has been appreciated and preserved by its owner. I can say that it is a one lucky E30 to have a owner like that. I always felt like that is the point about cars, you can have them as a function for a while and drop or change when they fulfill the mission or you can make them yours and have a connection with them. I feel the same way for my 1M and I doubt that I will be selling it anytime soon, if ever. Afterall, I waited a car like this (simple and purposeful) from BMW for almost 10 years.

I only got my e30 recently, but my god is that thing a blast to look at and drive. I often find myself taking the extra long route to my destination just to be in it a little bit longer.

I'd pick that E30 over the F30 any day! The E30 has this timeless design and character that lives on, while the F30 is just another face in the crowd.

This exact model was my first BMW, an 87 325i, Dolphingrey.
The first BMW i ever drove, and i haven't looked back since! I wish i had it today, because there's not many around anymore, a classic, who happens to give the owner a great ride as well. Hopefully i can have another one in the future as well? It's an icon!

It's just a car...
... but it furnishes so much enjoyment !
I have seen this video before, but didn't know where to put this on the forum... there is no thread specifically for the E30... Thanks for giving us the link OP! Quote:

Do you think that the F30 will become a legend, just like the E30 did? I love the E30 because it is the first car I can remember to have entered. In my head there is still the moment when I jumped onto the back-seats of my uncle's E30. Even the smell is still in my nose. You can really be glad to own both (or three) of them wonderful cars! |

That we can be sure... I am still waiting for a true successor to the E30. The 1 series is the closest right now... but BMW needs to do a E30 retro-design just like they did for the MINI! I will bet that will set well ! and make it priced under $40K for the sport well equipped version. It can very well be the 328i N20!

I also was 18 when I got my first, a 1987 325. It was new and I adored it. No car since has a similar soul but I am still driving BMW. Selling it was a mistake and I miss it greatly. I am planning on finding another to keep.

Wow, what a great story. That car looks to be in great shape. The E30 is such a classic design.

The F30? Probably not, unless the F80 M3/4 does something drastically different than any other generation of 3-series. However, as Chris Harris pointed out in another thread, I think that the e46 ZHP and M3 will become collector's items and legends as one of the best of the "modern" BMWs. |
