Not a great DD is it? 2002 would have quite a few miles, stick and not that reliable or am I wrong?

Wait, you want an automatic? Remove just about everything previously mentioned. If used, Boxster/Cayman may be your best bet. If new and you have the time to wait, the Mk7 GTI might be worth considering.

My Recommendation
MKVII VW GTI, DSG, with Performance Pack. They've greatly polished the GTI. with the E-Diff on the performance pack, the car doesn't go on 3 wheels like their predecessors when cornering hard. The interior is a nice place to be. Fuel economy of the 2.0T is good (STI will get you less than 350km per tank no matter how you drive).

Looks like the MKVII won't be launched in the US until the first half of 2014 as a 2015 model. Hong Kong has the MKVII on the road and they are rather good looking.

Its just another Honda my friend. It was really reliable just like my old S2000. Both on the same page IMO. Mileage would be 50,000-150,000. It's still a Honda. Aside from the clutch and timing belt the maintenance was super cheap since I did it all myself.

I think one of the best deals right now for a daily driver is the Volt.
There is a lease special for 299/mo, and since I spend about $200/mo on fuel currently to drive ~25 miles per day that would make the effective cost for the Volt ~$100/mo. It also allows for single occupant car pool lane access and great parking in lots with a public charger. |

I guess my car counts as an M3(the E36/7)
Whenever I re-up my Grundy policy, I imagine if my car DIAF(died in a fire), what would I replace it with after cashing the insurance check. 1) Cobra replica 2) '02 Lotus Esprit V8TT 3) Turbo/SC'd NSX 4) Turbo Cayman S/Turbo Boxster S 5) 996 911 Twin Turbo Coupe/Cabrio Now that I am used to a 500hp two seat open top car, I would always want one in the stable-so replacements are limited. Now, to be more on topic, as for my DD-if the 328 went away... 1) ATS 2.0T 6mt, unless the ATS-V was out 2) Golf R or upcoming Audi S3 3) CTS-V 6mt wagon or E90 M3 if I stopped caring about MPG
