I would hope for more like 30:70 to 20:80 permanent, or if it is active, then standardized 30:70 and up to 40 to the front and up to 100 to the rear. I want the car to do burnouts! Dont dissappoint now, M! To be honest I would wish for some abstract solution. Similar to the Ferrari FF AWD maybe.

This is an interesting move, would they abandon the ZF 8 speed altogether? I thought the ZF transmission was serving them well? Any ideas why BMW would make this move? |

So I ended up keeping my Bimmer and got myself a 664lbft AMG torque monster to keep it company. And I'm really happy I chose the AMG over the tame i8 because the sound alone makes it well worth the extra $30k, and it's got a folding hardtop to boot. If only BMW had a Z8 ///M, i8 ///M or an ///M8... But they're too happy catering to the cheaper market segments so they're bound to lose sales to Merc, Porsche, Audi, Aston and even McLaren in the $150-200k segment as they offer absolutely nothing whatsoever above the 760i. And it's a shame because BMW has so much potential.. Last edited by Jai 302; 11-25-2015 at 05:23 PM.. |

xDrive will (hopefully) be an option in the M5. No way they'd trash the rwd version of one of their signature cars. That's what the M cars are known for. Even with xDrive, I'm hoping it is (as the M boss says) a rwd system where the front wheels kick in only when needed.

Yes in about two years after it debuted. Don't be surprised of more "delays"

xDrive is for traction so look forward to low 3 second 0-60 sprints.

Can you explain this, Scott? The warm-weather market in the US is much bigger than Europe, isn't it? Why would Europe get a RWD F90 but not the US?
I will likely never be in the market for a car the size of an M5, but if the M3 ever went xDrive-only, I'd be gone from the brand like the wind.

Makes sense. The M5 already has traction problems. BMW isn't going to sacrifice a few customers who want RWD just for the sake of RWD when it no longer makes sense with the expected numbers the M5 is going to have. If those decide to go to Cadillac for RWD, BMW is going to risk it as long as they can keep up with S6/RS6 and E63 AMG (S).
