Just picked up the iX1 one today. Went for Alpine White + Oyster interior. Really like how it turned out in person. Apologies for the photos in wrong orientation ... iPhone doing funny things when uploading those pics for some reason.

after almost a year, there are still some BMW dealers in the US where no customer has been able to test drive or sit in one yet. (because every single X1 arrives at the dealership as a sold vehicle, which cannot be test driven) However, people are still ordering the xDrive28i and M35i without ever sitting inside one. Strangely, my dealer does have quite a few rare models that I have test driven just for fun, including M3, 760i and M2, while I was waiting for them work on my X1.

when I originally went to the dealer last year, I was going to buy the X3. Test drove a couple them and I didn't like the harsh ride and the somewhat old design. (which I later learned was probably due to the runflats.. and the X3 was due for a major update soon in a year or two)

At the time, my dealer somehow had a demo X1(X-Line) which was kind of surprising. I drove that X1 for a while, then ordered my X1 with M Sport. As of today, I can't be happier with my decision.

Plenty of iX1s in the UK, about 90 new ones available most with a fairly decent discount.

PHEV is a different story there are 2 new 30es which are cancelled orders, and no more being built before next year, that’s RHD so not sure if it’s the same for the rest of the world. Placed my order in June and doubt will get it before March.

New diesel models seem pretty thin on the ground as well.

Seems that electric car take up is falling and manufacturers are finding it tough in the UK to sell all their allocation hence discounts. I’m certainly extremely happy with my diesel

X3 suspension is designed for RFT.
Saying X3 have harsh ride - and then buying X1 i..i guess you just didnt like it,
saying multilink and a longer wheel base is worst than X1 is not a serious statement i am sorry considering how stronger the X3 suspension is

Storm bay metallic, I was on the fence about this and the BBL, but after seeing it in person, extremely happy with my choice, was having buyers remorse at first when I saw BBL in person and hadn’t seen a storm bay in person until I saw mine

it's a great color! the first X1 that I test drove was Storm Bay with X-Line trim. it was a bright sunny day and the color looked gorgeous. an hour later, I drove it back and parked under the shade in front of the dealership. It took on a different look under the shade. Very mysterious and ominous grey/blue color, reminded me of USS Iowa on a cold cloudy winter morning, waiting for a naval battle.

Yep storm bay is shape shifting, sunny days it glistens but on a gloomy day it is definitely frigate grey! I love it, and having seen many other manufacturers take on this battle ship grey this one is spot on, neither too light or too dark and never looks like a base grey that you might associate with model kits! The specks of blue mica definitely help
