So there's an M760i but still no M performance model of the biggest seller and most iconic model the 3 series and its 4 series sibling ... I don't get BMW logic.

Having said that I sat in the new 7 today and am mighty impressed at how comfy it was, not sure it needs an M performance model though... My lady and I were discussing that rather than debating who should drive like usual, we'd be debating who should get the privilege of sitting the back if we owned one of those!

The M2 LCI will definitely get LED headlights and tail lights. There is nothing new in this info for the M2.This is the same info that ynguldyn posted back in August about the M2.

The 3/4 series have so many versions 320, 330, 340 already. Not much room to add an M340 between the 340 and M3, especially considering there isnt that much of a price difference already. The 340 has the performance, just doesnt have the M badge in front of it. The M performance models are great, but they arent true ///M cars.

Still can't believe the next 6 series is so far away. It's already outdated in tech compared to other bmw series.

Yet it's the only BMW that I'd rather have based on looks alone instead of a competing brand. I'd rather have this gen for a longer time because I know they'll find a way to screw up the next gen with connected headlights and pig nostrils.

So there's an M-everything but still no proper M model of BMW's flagship range topping 7 series. I don't get BMW logic.

An MPPK will be available for 340i. Combined with other Performance options, we can get an M340i, without the ///M badge
But, taking into account how expensive these options are, it might be better to purchase a stripper M3

I already mentioned this, but making an M7 doesnt make sense. To be an M car, the vehicle must be fun to drive and orientated around the racetrack. And to be good around a track, the car must make some sacrifices with comfort. For example, the X5M/X6M are ridiculously fun to drive and by far the fastest on a track of its competitors, but the have rather stiff suspensions. Now, the 7 series would have to be rather stiff to impress, but that defeats the idea of the 7 series. Besides, Audi doesnt make an RS8 either, they only make the S8, comparable to a M750/60i. Sure, the nomenclature is better with Audi, because the M->Model->Engine->i/d is too long and doesnt make sense, BMW should have just picked another letter like Audi did for their sub-M cars.

And I dont think that its true that BMW makes an M-everything. M is still very special, as only 7 models are Ms in BMWs line up. M2,M3/4,M5/6 and the X5/6M. Compare this to AMG.

Exactly, the M135i and M235i have been huge successes. I don't get why the LCI 340i was not released as the M340i and given some M tweaks. Whatever the debates about marketing we've had etc I think the car would have warranted this.

Unless of course BMW thought they could make more money selling all the bits to do this individually.

because you would gift wrap thousands of sales to the MB and Lexus by alienating the thousands that would have bought a "regular" 340. the 2er is different. that being said, I think the 2 loses sales by not having a middle ground. some people just don't want a 4 banger, that doesn't mean they want all the other bits as well. now if BMW wants to do a M340 as a last year run, ala 335is, that might be a good idea.

I get what your saying and dont think there should be an M7 but you realize the only models that dont have a true M version besides the 7 is the 1 series, X1 and X3/4? And there was an 1M, now replaced by the M2. So that is pretty much just like AMG. MB also doesnt make an AMG version of the GLK which competes with the X3.

Disagree all you wish, but the sales numbers tell the story. BMW is building the right cars in order to secure a healthy place in the market. They are matching or beating their competitors in luxury vehicle sales which is an impressive feat considering the overall size of companies like VAG, Toyota, Mercedes Benz.

Just like E90 M3 and E92 M3 were.

It's a result of the offset production start dates of the F30 and F32, which is 1.5+ yrs. This same trend has existed since the E36.

What they really ought to do is allow the M3 to go to market before the M4, just as the M5 does the M6. I think that now that the model name changes have settled and the products can achieve separation we may see this happen in future generations. But maybe not yet with next generation.
