It’s not even new. I had it when I first got the car back in July 2023 (along with digital art mode) and then after the 07/23 update, both the digital art mode and QLOCKTWO were gone. Not sure why they even brought it back

Oddly enough the wording of my Version Information Summary differs slightly from the screenshot from FlashMonkey929. Maybe because I don't have the HUD, I don't know.

I actually don’t mind idrive 8 climate controls. I’d prefer if they’d give us full screen CarPlay (like in idrive 9) and a home button at the bottom

Feel bad for everyone with iDrive 8 out there. Was in the same position almost 10 years ago with an Opel Insignia. We were promised full connectivity and an app store. It was even in the car brochure. That update never came in 2 years. 2 months after I got mine, they did like a .25 update to the infotainment unit and suddenly the car had Carplay... for those newly ordered 🤮.

Some people even got their sale and leasing terminated over false advertisement. I swore to never toch an Opel again (GM owned at the time?). Then it was sold to the French, certainly not touching it 😭

Even on iOS 17, iDrive 9 has CarPlay in proper full screen mode. You can compare the photo below to the previous photo I posted

In this case ID8 vs ID9 is not quite so simple, for example features that you have to pay for on subscription are free on ID8 and up until recently has been almost bug free by comparison.

I'm getting frequent Android auto disconnections since being updated to 07/2024.44 by my dealer in France. Never had any issues before that, since February 2024 when I first got the car.

I'm also seeing the voice recognition regularly think I have used the key word (both Alexa and BMW). Never had that before either. Very annoying.

And finally, the only interesting thing from that update which was being able to set efficient mode as default, is not even possible.

Very frustrating at this price point and brand...

It is not released to everyone at the same time. If I remember correctly, it’s based on VIN.

But since you’re still on 07/2023, I would take it to your local BMW dealer and ask them to update the software for you manually. Just tell them there are still many software bugs that you know have been addressed in the later iterations. They will schedule an appointment for you to get it done.

I’ll do it on my next oil change or recall (which ever comes first). About 3000 miles from now for the oil.
For now 23-07 is stable enough.

even the BMW tech at my BMW dealers says to change it every 5000 miles or 6 months. he said I could do it myself if I knew how to do it myself. but he told me not to reset the oil change interval in the diagnostics pop-up screen when I did it myself. that way I still get the free BMW oil changes for every other oil change.

For the first 6 months I would get the voice recognition for Alexa even though I don’t use it or have it enabled. It would trigger with any word that sounds remotely close, such as Alex or Lexus. For whatever reason, it stopped after that and never came back.

Says nothing about Parking Assist Professional, so maybe it's true only cars manufactured in March 2024 and after can get it. Mine was manufactured in Feb and I have Parking Assist Plus and Driving Assist Professional.

Finished my installation today. Handbreak no longer comes on automatically when turning the car off. Need to find the setting next time I drive to enable it again.

my 07/2024 was installed by the dealer back in July.

the parking brake thing was the first thing that I noticed as soon as drove from the dealership back to my house. I was confused as to why the parking brake didn't engage. I noticed that the automatic function in the setting was somehow turned off. Strangely, almost all other settings that I had previously remained unchanged.

Parking Assist Professional will not be enabled directly by the update, as per BMW's announcement, it will need to be purchased from Connected Drive Store. I think they are still not ready with the store part, as no one reported seeing it there after the update.
