Maybe the leather on that band came from the cows that Moses owned.

Luminor 1950 8 Days, PAM00203

FWIW, it's not an "old man looking thing", imo.

Oh, and PAM00021 goes for more than double the price of PAM00203, if you can even find someone willing to part with one.

In 1997 Panerai recreated the watch it originally designed for the Italian Navy, which was renamed the Officine Panerai Radiomir PAM 00021. Like many of the pre-commercial Panerai watches, the PAM 00021 came with a Rolex movement, in this case a hand wound Calibre 618 movement.

I find the 212.30.36.20.01.001 the more handsome of the two. Also, I'd prefer the automatic to the quartz, without hesitation.

Yeah I like the first one better too. However, that's the 212.30.41.20.01.001. It looks exactly like the 212.30.36.20.01.001 and the prices are similar too. So I don't know why there is a difference in model numbers (perhaps there are subtle differences???). I would like an automatic as well but it seems to push the price way out of my budget...

No, the photo you posted isn't the 212.30.41.20.01.001. You can tell it apart from the 212.30.36.20.01.001 by the fact that the 212.30.41.20.01.001 has a "007" on the rear of the second hand.

This is a 212.30.41.20.01.001, note the "007". I wouldn't pay an extra $500.00 USD for a "007" logo on the second hand if I were choosing between the two. Actually, you posted a picture of the quartz model, as I just noticed the "coaxial" bit is missing from the face, so it's likely a 212.30.41.61.01.001. Again, I'd recommend against going with quartz, and spend the extra money for the coaxial escapement movement.

^ Ah you know what? I stand corrected. I just realized that the watch I looked at has almost identical model numbers. The only difference is that it's "61" instead of "20" like you post. http://www.amazon.com/Omega-Seamaste...pd_sbs_watch_4

Well that's why I recommended the CWC earlier, because it's much like a seamaster, but for 1/6 the price. It was the watch that supplanted the rolex submariner as the royal navy diving watch. You missed out to some extent, as Omega had a price increase not too long ago. The CWC runs about $600.

Here are a few handsome automatic watches for under $2000.

The B&R is particularly handsome in my opinion.
