I agree with you, the 5.0 is pretty hard to beat performance wise for the price. Honestly, I thought the new pricing for STi's 08+ was just too much. I paid 32k otd for mine back in 05 (obviously there were less options, mostly nav), but I test drove an 08 and it really didn't feel like an almost 40k car (equipped) to me.

Lol the point of this thread isn't to influence a car buying descision. It's to snip it in the bud, ie make it disappear...not make me another car

I do love the 5.0 and I've always loved mustangs but I need a winter car. The 135 is getting a bit hairy at times in the snowiest city in america.

I've got an 08 STi and an 09 135i (coupe). When I grab for keys in the morning on the way out the door, I come up with the keys to the Subaru 9 times out of 10.

I'd buy the Subaru and never look back.

I have a bit of experience in this department. My previous car was a 2005 STi. The car was an absolute blast to drive. It made even the most mundane drive to the grocery store exciting. Hear are a few drawbacks that led me to choose the BMW over it.

1. Does not age well. The suspension is very firm from the factory, after about 10,000 miles you will hear every piece of metal rattle in the car on the smoothest roads. The paint does not stand up to miles well either. I had rust issues early and the paint is so thin you can scratch it by breathing.

2. The "hardcore" nature of the car, or complete lack of creature comforts gets old. It would be nice to hear the radio, but forget about it if you are driving more than 60mph. It can also be challenging to have a conversation with someone in the car (or on your cell phone) while driving.

3. Feels like you are probably going to get crushed if you get in an accident with anything larger than a Smart car.

Mustang can't get you AWD tho. And that's a major factor in some areas of the country.

Well, you can pretty much not do any mods to a $50K Karut Rocket and it still looks fairly decent stock. I doubt if you can say the same thing about most rice rockets. I think the shot posted above is a good example :

How much do you estimate the cost of mods were on that car? I know, we don't have a list of work done but still, I guess somewhere around $10K or so. That puts it around $50K range. Now, with that final price tag, which car do you think is a better deal?

Looks cannot be measured the same as performance/price/etc... Its an opinion, not a quantifiable measure.

With 265-HP starting at $25K the 5-Door WRX isn't bad at all. If you want more bells and whistles, go slightly used with an STI and you probably won't break the bank.

This. If you're an AWD person, 25k for a brand new WRX is quite a good deal. Personally I still can't justify the insane price difference between a brand new WRX and a brand new STI

I guess I just don't put enough stock in the exterior cosmetics of the car.... That's very low on the priority list for me. I kinda like things like... you know... not having to take the car in for 11 unscheduled service trips in the first two years of ownership (bought new), resale projections, straight line performance, handling, comfort, features, practicality, etc... In no particular order of course (Except for the first one).

IDGAF if my car's ugly from the outside. It's a car, not a wife or mistress.

All 3 can be easily replaced ...However, the price tag for the change may differ quite drastically
