Double parking is stupid only because you will get attention, unwanted attention, I might add.

If you want to be a dick and double park, then expect the laws of attraction to bring another dick to come key the hell out of your car. Two wrongs don't make a right, but two dicks do, apparently.
Bravo!

To the OP - I really hope you are just posting this and that letter was not narrated by you... if it is, all I'm going to say is "Karma is a bitch"...

imo, in times like this, you just be the bigger man and keep rolling by... sad thing is, people are inherently impatient, pathetic assholes that get their kicks from shit like this...

Do they teach reading comprehension in publik skool anymore?

I, too, would like to know what you accomplish by double parking in a deserted lot - other than broadcasting your inflated sense of self-worth to the rest of the world and attracting precisely the sort of attention you'd prefer to avoid.

On another note, I'm tired of people who act like their 3 series is a classic Duesenberg. The world is not out to get you and your precious "bimmer." Most people don't care and won't notice. The badge isn't worth as much as you think it is. It's all rather amusing: I bought a 3er for a daily driver because (among various other qualities) it's a relatively mundane and unassuming car and I wanted to fly under the radar. Maybe I was spoiled in my youth, or maybe I'm just cynical - probably both - but I don't see the 3er as being a special car. So far, my experience reinforces this fact: the car has been with me for seven years, and has been parked and left in all manner of places both public and private, and it has yet to be deliberately vandalized. There are some dents, yes, some small scratches, but these things are unavoidadable.

I'm also tired of people who obsess over the condition of their daily driver. Don't want dents? Rock chips? Scratches? Don't drive it. Leave it under cover in a garage, or a warehouse, like my father does with his collection of classic show cars. If the weather is just right, and you're feeling a bit brave, well - maybe then you can bring it around the block a few times. Oh, and watch out for those sprinklers!

I just park at the end of an aisle just slightly in the diagonally striped area. One of my co-workers parked his MB that way (probably too far over) and the rent-a-cop security guard plastered one of those impossible to get off stickers on his window saying he was parked in a no parking zone--in a doctor's only lot!

I think that if you park at the back of the lot where nobody parks, then there is no need to double park. It just attracts attention to your car.

Sometimes when I drive the crappy company van ('95 ford E350) and see somebody double parked in a front spot, I pull right next to their drivers side so that their side mirror is 1/8" from the van. This forces them to crawl through the passenger side to get in; however, I believe that NOBODY has a right to damage your car because you are an asshole. An ass kicking is a different story.

I never take two spaces...I look at it this way..if you wanna protect your car you shouldn't make others suffer...and if you do you are only gonna piss off the guy who could have had a spot next to you but instead now had to walk form the back of the lot....

Instead I just park as far from everyone as possible....if I can find one a spot at the end of the row as close to the outside line as possible..

there is only so much you can do though.

I have been doing this to all my cars. 2004 Mini Cooper, 2006 330i, 2006 X5 4.8is, 2007 335i. I have NEVER been keyed, dinged, vandalised, ect... I park liek this everywhere... Movies, Mall, Gym, Work, school, ect..... Play it right and don't do it in a common area and I promise your chances of getting a ding, scratch, ect will decrease. In fact its more of a chance of your car getting keyed while parked in a common area parking spot by some dick walking right by it, without having to even double park...

Maybe everyone in NY walks around with keys in their hand and a bitchy attitude, but in MIAMI, it has NOT happened to me...

did you park in 2 spaces cause of the previous cars parking job?

are you super fat?

can we see a shot of the damage?
still this guy was an ass for doing this but so would you be if you parked in a crowded place and took up 2 spaces

nonetheless this guy obviously was a way bigger jerk... if this indeed was your fault and not the fault of other people that parked around you!!

dude the guy who hit your car was probably an idiot in the first place because what kind of person would try to park in a tight spot like that. having said that you did a selfish act just not to get a scratch on your car.
