thanks Kevin. That's one of the reason why I tend to prefer night shots better than most of my day shots.....the colors and reflections just pops

what about a small aperture and good PP? I suppose night air clarity plays a smaller part also.

Here's one I took during the Olympics in Vancouver. It was taken on my point and shoot, unedited.
Also a couple of my old truck that a buddy took for me. |

Ok so methinks you have this bridge fetish the way Slavik has a car fetish (photographically speaking)?
Anyway here is my latest entry: Lightning Storm by Adrean8j, on Flickr

sweet pic man! I like the sharpness of the thunderbolt. Those clouds to the right of it look pretty cool too.

1. Lightning/Thunderstorm in the distance 2. Long exposure (15-60secs) 3. Patience and Luck Focus to infinity and hope that lightning flashes during your exposure time. Rinse and repeat BTW the good thing about lightning is that it is pure light...with shutter speeds from 1/60 (which you would have to be the luckiest person on earth to catch at that speed) on down you will never underexpose the strike itself...the longer shutter speed is more to make sure you catch something and help get the clouds to be exposed somewhat. I have an even better picture i will post in the next couple days. Thanks JZ still trying to get on yo level bro! |

Good question...I saw them after I posted the photo...umm might have been aircraft as there is the Punta Cana airport off to the left. I thought it might be something on the lens but it doesn't show up in the other pictures I took. I should have just spot healed it out. What do you think it might be from?

ahh... honestly, I thought some pixels on my laptop were going bad, until I looked closer after scrolling.
I don't think they are aircraft... but it is odd. I didn't notice it the first time I commented on your photo, since I was staring at the lightning bolt. As a small critique, I'm surprised the water isn't smooth with such a long exposure time. I guess there wasn't much light from the lightning bolt. Personally, I think it would look better with the water cropped out and you had just the sky.

^^^I think they are just stars in the frame...some of them are moving faster than others so the look like streaks but the others you just catch either the blue or red light from them. In my other lightning photo with a much longer exposure you can't see them at all...with the same lens. I thought about cropping out the water but I kinda felt like it lost a sense of depth without it...I will probably 100% re-crop and look at it again.

I was wondering about the two pixels as well. Inbound and outbound aircraft, maybe?
