On our pre-Memorial Day week road trip, we burned 176.370 gallons of diesel fuel and paid $1,007.86 for the trip in the Mighty Dodge. The only reason why I kept the Mighty Dodge around was to tow the enclosed race car hauler. With my doctors involuntarily ending my racing hobby, the only thing that the truck has been used for is road trips and an occasional run to Home Depot. With my butt hurting not only from last week's fuel bills but also a week of torture in the Dodge seats, I swore that I'd install several grand worth of air-ride truck driver seats before I ever drove it again. In a moment of insanity a few days ago, I made the decision to sell the Mighty Dodge and use the funds to buy a diesel Mercedes Sprinter van for road trips. Leave it up to my DW to immediately remove every single personal item from the truck today...before I change my mind! I yanked my dash cam, two-way radio, and trailer brake controller this afternoon. She wants to have it professionally detailed inside to clean OCD psycho dog's fur out, and then will list it for sale. Ironically, the current blue book price is actually more than I paid for it in 2008. TL;DR - We will soon be at the mercy of the rental car gods to get an ICE for a road trip, until I can get a Mercedes Sprinter and do a stealth camper conversion.....

You used 176 gallons?
Dude, did you drive to the Moon? I'm keeping track of every gallon of gas I've ever bought for my G20, I put 591.384gal for ~18k miles. I average 20-22 since i bought the car, pretty normal I think. That math brings me to 5300mi I don't think your problem is (just) the gas prices... |

Not quite, but over 3,400 miles on our week-long road trip with diesel averaging north of $5.70/gallon between all fuel stops. I keep fuel logs for every ICE that I own, and can tell you when/where every drop of gas/diesel came from since the day I bought each vehicle.
If you want to know some of the stops, we went from upstate NY to our tree farm in South Carolina, back and forth from SC to Charlotte NC for three nights, down to coastal Georgia, back to SC, west to Nashville TN, back to the SC tree farm, and then back home to upstate NY. Thankfully my DW cut a 900+ mile leg to Miami off of this trip while we were on the road, which probably saved me another $300 or so in fuel. The Cummins is an I-6 engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and actually gets respectable fuel mileage for moving 7K+ pounds of truck at highway speeds.....

I confess that today was the first time I've driven Sabine since 05/07/2022. Sigh! I need to drive more. She's just fantastic. I haven't ridden Valentina since early April. Oh, and Yuki the Toyota Corolla needs a serious wash. She's dirty as fuck.

In light of that somber news….
….I confess that it's nice to receive some class action lawsuit money (…as minimal as it may be). Bumble got sued for some breach/misuse of information, so everybody got paid out. |

Tomorrow I will pick up my new HP4 at the dealer and have to left my Lizard there for good. I confess that just the thinking about saying good bye actually makes my heart very heavy

Ahhh, you noticed.
I was at the beach for my annual girlie trip. It wasn’t the same having a loaner for the drive. Weather was great, best weather in the 13 or so years we’ve been doing this. I got in car this morning to come home and I had a freakin flat. FML. I’ll be in the loaner for another week or two. German Engineering said I need a valvetronic unit. The beach is good for my soul.
