Install was pretty easy, took about 10 minutes start to finish. The initial panel with the speaker grille closest to the mirror, you start at the edge closest to you and pull downward. There is some force required, and I thought I heard a clip break, but all was good. Using the included trim removal tool to lever against the rear clips helped to loosen them. After that, separating the other two pieces from the mirror assembly was just simply prying them apart gently. Just remove the small plug from the mirror, insert it into the adapter and plus the adapter into the harness and tuck the wires, then reassemble. I've attached a few photos of the clips of the first panel so it's easier to see how it attaches.
It looks great!
Could you share how to best hide the wire to the rear camera across the car?

Does your camera shut off after you shut off the engine and lock the car?

I used a similar setup with a rain sensor adapter that I purchased on Amazon and linked it up to a VIOFO dash cam. However when I shut the car off and lock the doors the camera stays on and continues recording. Checked the footage on the cam and it recorded 8+ hours of it sitting in the garage. Not sure if I’m hooking it up to the wrong plug or not.

I am having issue confirming which fuse is ACC vs constant. It seems like when I check every fuse using fuse checking tool (the one with the light on it), all the fuses are on when the engine is off. Makes me wonder if this is just on for a short duration after turning car off or are all constant on. Can't contort myself to check the fuse box while care is locked and doors are closed haha to double check this.
The fuse card is still unavailable.

I have a radar detector waiting to install too, but I do not want the light of the detector remains ON inside the cabin. Anyone knows if there is an instant on/off fuse spot that sync with the vehicle's on/off status ?
Good help. Thanks.

Did you find a bolt/screw to use as a ground?

My current setup is blackboxmycar power cell 8 battery + VIOFO dash camera.

I've noticed that when I lock the car and I look inside, the battery is still charging off the tap as if the fuse is still providing power. In your experience, does it take some time for the car to "turn off" after we walk away from it and lock it? It seems like the x1 is "on" for a little bit after we lock it.

I have attached my current fuse box (fuse tap is on different spot in this picture).

I appreciate everyone's help, looking forward to more mods on the X1!

My car specs:
2023 BMW X1 Portimao Blue, M package, US version, Convenience Package, Heated seats/steering wheel, remote engine start.
What did you use for a ground and accessory power? Thanks.

I installed the FitCamX last weekend. It's super easy to install by yourself, I did the whole thing in 90-120 minutes. The most challenging part was lining up the two halves of the new base that sits under the mirror. I sweated and cussed.

The power line for the rear camera EASILY tucked into the appropriate upholstery - except for the post between the front and rear doors. Tucking the cord in there separated the upholstery and it didn't close back, it was gapped with the wire showing and looked like hell. I ran the wire on top of the upholstery at the crease, it sits there tightly and looks totally fine.

The UI is super easy, it's video quality seemingly unbeatable. The power is cut when the car is off. I would not have it any other way in regard to the front cam being completely hidden. It's so clean!

Did you disconnect the battery before connecting this video recorder? I also have a FitCamX but after the last message, I decided to temporarily disconnect it, because the car reported the error “Powertrain check” ( your vehicle's drive needs to be checked. You can drive on). The service technician detected that the rain sensor was disconnected, as the car sent this information to BMW's servers when it accessed the Internet. Apparently, the problematic part is that this system also feeds the Kafas camera responsible for the proper operation of the lane assistant, etc. and if something is damaged by such a video recorder, the warranty repair may not cover it.... Have you encountered such a problem at your place?

Wow! So there are potential problems with this modification! I'm so sorry that you had the trouble that you did.

I did not disconnect the battery. The directions simply said to not give the car power intentionally during the install. So I did not push anything that would have prompted the power. I left the vehicle key in my kitchen to try and avoid any conflicts. I have otherwise had no complications or problems since the install. God speed friend!

I just used the 12V socket in the trunk. Then tucked the wires under trim panels etc. Don't even wanna fuse tap anything in case anything happens causing BMW to deny warranty claim for my iX1
