Also, in some threads, others have brought up doubt, wondering if the person who posted a picture of themself in reality doesn't look like the picture at all. I share that kind of doubt.

I think that women who are known to be what they claim to be are much more likely to be treated very well in a male dominated forum. That is a lot better than any guy is treated. The only downside I can think of for a pretty woman in internet forums is that they might be pestered with PMs (as stewthebassman said happened to him). That's probably why some women would rather go stealth with a male identity or with no trace of gender in the forums.

That is thoroughly understandable since attention is not always a welcome thing. Look at the extreme example of Hollywood stars.
