i'd say about half my friends have jobs and the other half don't (after graduating 2010). some of them i think are just lazy and say they want jobs and say they're searching, but i bet they're not. as a science major, there are i guess some limitations in what i can apply for, but i did find jobs at Stanford SOM and i'll be applying to some for next year. i'm currently doin research under UC Davis SOM, but i plan to move back to the south bay in august...

as for the business/econ end, a friend of mine went to hk for some i-banking interviewing, but didnt hear back. if you've done internships, have you've tried to contact the places you've done internships with? the majority of my friends without jobs are those without many or any internships, while those who have jobs have had a few pretty unique experiences (ie abroad internships in financial centers like HK). try applying to Tesla...my friend works there. i think they're always looking for new hires but their interview process is pretty rigorous...

forgot to add, i had a friend who went to wake forest...did pretty poorly in school 2.4 gpa? maybe 2.7... can't remember. but he did internships each summer, and ended up finding a job at HP, where he interned during a previous summer. so yes networking is important, but it's also internships/experiences... goodluck!

It's just too risky quality-wise and it runs the risk of damaging the company's long-term relationship with campus recruitment offices.

While I've never hired undergrads outside of university channels, the few times I did interview from non-campus sources, the resumes came from acquaintances or were sent by big-wigs from other departments.

Only three things to do now - 1.) temp or get a McJob until you find something else, 2.) start calling anybody you know who works even remotely closely to where you want to end up, and 3.) reach out to a couple of professional recruiting firms to see if they can set you up with some looks (doubtful, but it doesn't cost you anything).

Also, your parents are giong to kick you out because you can't find a job right after school? Are they really strict or have you been seriously slacking since graduation?
Ah, thanks for the insight. I'll keep that in mind. My parents don't feel the need to keep me around the house because they feel that I'm old enough to sustain myself at age 22/23.

Unfortunately, the internships that was offered to me clashed with my class schedule, EVERYTIME. I know, what great luck I had back then. So pretty much I don't really have anything substantial aside from the regular part time college jobs and the numerous organizations that I was actively involved in.

I was actually in HK for the past 5 months. Didn't bother looking for jobs ( I don't mind living there) because the salary for fresh grads is lower than that of someone working at McDs in the states. But then again, Hong Kong is very well established, they don't necessarily need talent from abroad. :/
