That is one odd watch. I don't think I've ever seen a watch with the controls on the left side. Is it specifically designed/built for lefties?

A lot of the nixons are like that. I have the corporal and its normal righty watch with canvas band just for casual.

Really? PAM Destro, Sinn UX/U1000, All Uboats, Omega Ploprof, Zenith El Primero... just a few off the top of my head. There are tons of left handed watches...

You learn something new every day....

I can honestly say I've never walked into a jeweler or watch store and seen a left-hand crowned watch sitting in the case. Clearly they exist in greater abundance than I would have thought. Of course there are plenty of lefties in the world and there's no reason why they should have a harder time adjusting their time piece than righties.

Props to all the normal people in the world who like their Citizen watches just fine. You are no doubt the folks who navigate life's roads with the greatest aplomb. (Ditto the Hamilton, Timex and Seiko folks.)

It's easy to say one likes Rolex or Patek....TY for your integrity.

Only one person like hamilton. I think they are fine. Good value at well below 1000 for automatic with visible movement. Wearing a hamilton khaki pilot now.

I voted for Patek... but I'm wearing a Seiko 009 on a Mil-NATO strap right now. Honestly, the Seiko fits the lifestyle I have better, as opposed to the lifestyle to which I'd like to become accustomed.

I think the idea is more if you wear the watch on your left wrist, the crown doesn't dig into the back of your hand. Most of them are larger-cased watches where this is more of an issue.

You didn't vote also for the Seiko?

I own a couple Seikos, two Citizens and a Movado, but I didn't vote for them either because I can't accurately tell you when I last wore any of them. So I can honestly say I'm not that crazy about them now, although I once was rather fond of my Seiko and Movado. I bought the two Citizens on two separate occasions (1) when I'd rushed out of town and forgot my watch in the car (I'd taken it off to adjust it, and sat it down when traffic began to move and just left it there on the seat of the car.), and (2) when I'd just plain forgotten to put my watch back on while rushing about at home preparing to head to the airport. I have nothing against them, they just aren't what I choose to wear these days.

I certainly can relate to that concept. I have experienced that minor discomfort on occasion wearing my Submariner. Perhaps were I to have the wristband shortened so the watch snugly fit my wrist instead of being loose-ish, I might not have had that issue. Good point you raise all the same.

I agree my Breitling chrono digs in hard on unexpected movements I shouldnt be making while it's on....
Next watch I would really like a Daytona, do any of you have any feedback on them as well as average price range for a new one in CDN dollars?

As automotively focused watches go, the Daytona is the benchmark. The case is super tough and it does an outstanding job of managing elapsed time. You can't go wrong with most any Rolex, but barring any specific need for certain functionality, you can go boring. As for the prices, I'm sure your local Rolex retailer can give you accurate ones. In USD, I'd tell you to expect to pay between $13K and $30K. I suspect the range is similarly broad in CDN dollars. I suspect that if there's a fault to be found with it, it's that it's a Rolex and thus the brand's ubiquity makes it a not an unexpected watch to find on someone's wrist. That's not to say there anything at all wrong with finding it one's wrist.

If a another sport watch is what you want and you happen to already own a Rolex of one sort or another, take a look at the Corum Admiral's Cup. Or, if you don't have one already, spend around the same sum and get a fine dress watch that'll be appropriate for work and, as you might imagine, even more formal affairs. I'd recommend this one (http://www.alanfurman.com/noframes/pp5120j.htm ) as it's the one I bought for just that purpose. It does nothing but tell time as elegantly as is possible to do so, which is all that I need in the office and at formal events. If you need something somewhat sporty looking than the Patek, but certainly not a sport watch, you might like this one ( http://www.alanfurman.com/noframes/a....a088cr.01.htm) or a Royal Oak from the same maker if the upper end of the Daytona price range is acceptable to you.

One thing is certain, none of the three watches I suggested will dig into your wrist, but the Daytona, with its heft, might.

This is exactly why I always wear my watch on my right hand. People often ask if I am left handed?!?!

I'm too old to be adopted aren't I? I'd be happy to settle for a vintage Heuer chronograph, or maybe a Speedy Pro.

Barring mental illness or some other cause, yes, you've passed that point in life.

I like the vintage Heuers too and there's certainly nothing about telling time for which the Sp. Pro. can't settle.

Which one? i'm partial to their classic tank watch and the Calibre ones. I recall back in the '80s or so, everyone and his brother, and sister, and nephew/niece, and cousin four times removed had to have a Santos. And this was the era when Seiko LaSalle was new and nifty, but you still saw more Cartier watches than you did Seiko and Timex combined. Nothing at all wrong with them per se but they had reached Rolex and Tag levels of ubiquity. One's special little indulgences aren't so special when everyone's got one too.

I'll admit buying one too -- I was no different than any other yuppie -- but I traded it in for something else in the '90s.
