I have gained during COVID and my injury. I'm actually excited to get surgery in 3 weeks so I can walk again.
I used to do 12-15k per day at work. Currently I am at 5k steps in pain everyday and up 20 pounds.
Eating out is my vice and as we all know theres a lot of salt when dining out

You're right, people don't take it seriously. I don't think it's intentional on how we take life for granted because I think we can't imagine that in a few hours or tomorrow would be our last day.

Congrats to you on your lifestyle changes and being healthy for your kids. It takes a lot but it's so worth it.

The amount of sodium in everything is insane. Even Honey Nut Cheerios are 11% sodium per serving! I’m on the dash diet which only allows for sodium to be a 5% or less per serving……my sodium levels are fine, but I’m still following it to a T. Grocery shopping at first was so frustrating. It’s amazing just how loaded everything is with salt. Bowl of soup? Pass. Even the low sodium ones range in the 30% mark. Death sentence in the making.

My sister and I got into it yesterday since I feel I'm the only one in the family with a sense of urgency about this. She's stressing me out and I don't want to be an only child.
It’s a terrible newly lonely feeling. Fight like hell, as I know you are. You are spot on, you do NOT want to become an only child.

Yep, once you cut back on salt you really notice how overused it is.

I'd love to see a cooking show where all of these fancy chefs are not allowed to use salt. All of their palates have been so oversaturated that they don't have a clue how real food tastes anymore.

Sex should definitely be had in excessive amounts. I swear it's the key to a youthful appearance and vigor. I can go all night…..literally.

My (late) best friend used to pig out on Walmart rotisserie chicken at least once per week. Showing him the nutrition label where it had almost 650mg salt for a 3-ounce serving (IIRC) did not deter him from eating 16 ounces of that sodium bomb in one sitting...or sprinkling even more salt on it.

The hospital dietician who gave me the speech told me where there was a deli nearby that makes their own no-salt cold cuts in-house. We also picked up a deli slicer for home, and occasionally make salt-free roast beef cold cuts from the local beef farm's grass-fed/finished roasts.....

My sister was a food science major at Cal Poly, and I remember she once dialed down the salts and sugars in her diet. After about 45 days, her taste buds changed/adjusted. So much, in fact, that a piece of wheat bread tasted too sweet; she stopped using salt almost entirely. It's crazy how the body adjusts.

Life’s too short. Eat what I want in moderation. Intermittent Fast a different schedule ever day and work out routinely. Give me the salt. Give me the sugar and if necessary, give me the death.

Hence why I ate what I ate today, but I'm going to howl out like a werewolf in the gym in an hour.

Sounds like my sister. I called my niece this evening to ask her what my sister ate today and if she exercised. Tysons chicken nuggets was not the answer I wanted to hear.
