After the upgrade to 07/2024.40 on iDrive 9 the HK Speakers are always illuminated white and the switch that allowed to set it the same color as the Ambient Lighting is missing (there used to be a toggle in the Lightning Effects Menu). Did anybody else notice the same?

The option to add Parking Assistant Professional appeared overnight for me. It's an eDrive20 With DA Pro and PA Plus built 04/2024.

Sadly I'm unable to start the trial as I don't have a payment method set and the site prevents me from adding one (some missing boxes) at this moment 🤪

Edit: was able to do the trial and now have the option in the app.

Edit 2: just tried it out with the app. I can move the car straight forward / backward. It's pretty reactive (half a sec / 10 cm delay).

It came overnight, I updated yesterday and none of this was there after the update. Same for the "Battery precondition" in the app which appeared this morning. So fingers crossed.

Remote Camera View is currently no longer working for me, stuck on Step 1 (Waking vehicle) while other remote functions work fine.

After updating to version 07/2024.40, I’ve noticed a slight change in the steering wheel's feel. Specifically, when the car is stationary and I try to make a slight turn, there’s a brief but noticeable resistance in the opposite direction. Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

I think it's absolutely a case of gate-keeping the feature for the built in navigation app on the phone. Why would Apple or Google allow a "premium" feature of their app to be replicated by a third party without incentive? Apple or Google's goal is to have as many users prefer their apps and technology as possible, and they are no doubt making revenue off of it in one way or another.

I would prefer to have Google Maps display in my instrument cluster as it's more accurate than Apple Maps in my area, but I realize that it probably won't happen for the foreseeable future.

They have done. Maps is supported, Waze isn't, and both are Google property...

Well 07.24.40 is available in the USA. Loading it OTA was painful by the app. The X1 finally offered to do it from the dash and loaded fine.
All I can see different is a new font and color scheme. Whooptee friggin do.

The user manual warning still doesn’t go away on its own.

The My collection/Favorites still needs to be picked EVERY tine I start the care (why bother offering it?).

The rest… after an hour of trying to load, I was frustrated. Now angry.
All that for Color and font? Really?

The upside, the parking brake still comes on when the car is turned off.

The Toyota Crown Signia is looking really good right now.

Noticed on MyBMW app this afternoon that the 07.2024.40 upgrade just became available to download. Just finished that step & will upload to X1 next time I take a long drive.
One thing that’s confusing. BMW video says the vehicle can’t be driven while the upload is taking place which should take about 20 minutes. But in print it says vehicle can be driven while upload is occurring. Well, which is it??

From those that have already updated the software, can vehicle be driven while the 07/2024.40 is being uploaded?

Yes. The upload is just a copy of the files from your phone to the car. This happens in the background. After that is completed, next time you turn off the car, you get the option to (schedule to) install the update. During the install you can't drive though.

Uploading is one thing, installation is another. I don't understand why you are confused. You can upload the software from the mobile phone to the car while you are driving. In order for the installation to take place, however, the car must be parked. You decide when. It is easy and safe. Installation is not going to start while driving !

1st- Upload to vehicle from MyBMW App
2nd- Installation to vehicle but only when it’s parked.

Technically, it’s a 3-step process.

1: download software to phone via bmw app
2: upload from app to car
3: install

Steps 1 and 2 should be done in drive-ready state

Step 3 should be done with car turned off and locked.

If you did it by OTA, then it will either transfer from your phone (if you downloaded via app), or download directly to the vehicle (if you initiated the download from the infotainment system) while you are driving. Install is always while the car is parked and engine is off. The first few updates I stayed in my car to monitor the update progress, this last one I just parked the car and let it do its thing while I went inside. Car updated and then sent me a notification on the app that it was complete, and car locked itself and enabled the alarm. Note that while the car is updating, you can lock it, but the alarm and any locking features you've enabled are temporarily disabled (like the folding in of the mirrors, kick sensor, etc.).

Ohio, USA here. I was able to download through the head unit. In progress now 🔥
