A vole is about to meet its demise. I was so close I could actually hear the impact.

...AND you were using a "superzoom" camera. Amazing. Sony is kicking ass.

That's now my recommended "starter kit" for bird-in-flight newbies.

BTW, Sony tech told me that, as long as the light is good, I can put their FE 2.0x teleconverter on my G Master 100-400mm/a9 combo and it will not slow down AF.

If so, the only the reason to have my huge Canon would be for low light, needing f/4, instead of f/11.

That's the key with the RX10; you need to have good light and fill the frame. The limits of the 1" sensor show quickly when the light gets bad or you try to crop too much. Still, it is a bargain, and a fun camera if you don't want to schlep pounds of gear around.

I'm considering a Sony 6500 for its extra pixel-density, to use in combination with my G Master 100-400mm and 1.4x teleconverter. I shot one a tiny bit last weekend. It seems like a solid little package.

Sorry that I missed you Ed. It would have been fun to take in the auto show with you.

Took advantage of Black Friday sales. My current machine is over 5 years old and has some failing USB issues on the motherboard. Also reluctantly making the jump to Win10.

Nice!

I've been pleased with W10. It's playing nicely with all my imaging software.

The only problems I've seen were with those trying to put it on an old machine, leading to driver issues. You should have any problems with your new setup.

I guess I'm spoiled. In Colorado, in winter, something like this is not really unusual:
