According to this article 90-95% of NFL front offices will not touch this guy now. And I called it on him possibly becoming a professional activist. Whatever a professional activist is.

John Legend called the 'Star Spangled Banner' a weak song in defense of Kaepernick. For the first time in my life I listened to Legend on iTunes...Legend's crap is totally unlistenable.

Here is what he told the team’s beat writers about Clinton at the Sunday media session, where he announced he would sit for the national anthem.
“You have Hillary who has called black teens or black kids 'super predators,' you have Donald Trump who’s openly racist,” Kaepernick told reporters. “We have a presidential candidate who has deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn't make sense to me because if that was any other person you’d be in prison. So, what is this country really standing for?” So Kaepernick believes Hillary Clinton has used racially insulting terms and belongs in prison. NewsBusters conducted a Google News search using the terms “Kaepernick, Trump and openly racist” a day later and got 48 results. Yet a search using the terms “Kaepernick, Clinton and prison” returned just four. The only item on the Clinton remarks to appear in a major press outlet was an article in The Washington Post, according to NewsBusters. The Associated Press ran a story noting Kaepernick's description of Trump, but left out his remarks about Clinton. I pulled this from an article on yahoo news.

Almeda county sheriff Dept invited Kap to their training facilities. I heard its near where Kap lives, and near the niners facility. They want him to train with rookies, and start a dialogue in reference to his concerns. I wonder if he took the offer.

It would be interesting for any of us to go though simulation training of a traffic stop, for example. We are the officer. We approach the car not knowing who is inside or if they have weapons. In this simulation, the driver does not follow instructions to put his/her hands on the steering wheel or out the window in plain sight. Instead, the driver reaches for their waistband. At that moment, our lives are in danger and we have to make a choice. Do we shoot to protect ourselves from being shot, or do we give the driver the benefit of the doubt and hope they are not reaching for a weapon? Really a tough situation. It would be good to take some vocal opponents of the police through this type of training and see how often they shoot somebody because they are in fear of their life. Maybe community programs are in order to provide this type of training so when an officer give instructions the public knows why its important to follow those instructions to the letter. Maybe this exists already, but if not, maybe there should be a video game of simulated police situations where the player is the officer who is put in different situations. The score could be based on how often they shoot somebody that didn't have a weapon they were ready to use vs the number times they were themselves shot because they did not react quickly enough. |

This kind of training for community activists and citizens who are anti police is important. What an eye opener for this guy. I hope he brings the message of compliance back to his community.
This does not address the issue of bad rogue cops using their badges as a license to shoot, but simple compliance would eliminate many of these tragedies. This kind of training in various real world scenarios would be a big step forward. |

My impression is that his actions have everything to do with an attempt to make himself newsworthy / temporarily relevant and little or nothing to do with standing up for something he believes in all of a sudden. Seems like it worked for him.

Im glad Kaep changed up his protesting.
The kneeling he did last night vs the way he was sitting on the bench last time shows a little bit more respect, and now he is pledging to donate towards the cause. Maybe all the backlash finally got some sense into him. While I still dont agree with the way he is going about this, at least he is taking more action than just sitting. Now the socks with pig police... |

That's a big if you put in there. I don't think he's a decent q'back, and he did not look that good yesterday. He made one decent drive. Last week, he completely hurled - just like he did last season. In the 9 games he played in the 2015 season, he was 3-6, only 6 TDs, 5 interceptions, and 5 rushing fumbles. Who would want that?
